BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS
Kenneth R Macht V Fran R Adams
Chairman CQG District 1
District 3 0
Arthur R Neuberger
Caroline D. Ginn * * District 2
Vice Chairman
District S '10RiQA Thomas S Lowther
District 4
April 16, 2003
The Honorable Mike Haridopolos
312 Senate Office Building
404 South Monroe Street
Tallahassee, FL 32399-1100
Dear Senator Haridopolos:
At the April 8, 2003 meeting of the Indian River County Commission the Board unanimously
voted to adopt the attached Resolution to reinstate funding in the 2004 state budget for the
State Library of Florida in order to maintain the State Library of Florida as a cohesive unit for
the benefit of all who seek knowledge and truth.
The Indian River County library system has benefited immensely from the State of Florida's
provision of enhanced library services and cost-saving sharing of resources. If increased
literacy and better education are the highest priorities of this Governor's Administration, then
dismantling the State Library of Florida runs contrary to such goals.
We strongly urge that the Florida legislature reinstate the funding for the State Library.
Yours truly,
Kenneth R.
