ANN ROBINSON OF COUNTRY CLUB POINTE SPOKE <br />OPPOSING THE REZONING TO R-2 AND INFORMED THE BOARD THAT THE <br />HOSPITAL TRUSTEES HAD PREVIOUSLY ASKED FOR A MORATORIUM ON <br />ANY REZONING IN THE AREA UNTIL THE DIASTER PLAN WAS COMPLETED. <br />MR. CLARK SCOTT OF COUNTRY CLUB POINTE ALSO SPOKE <br />OPPOSING THE REZONING. <br />MR. BILL STEGKEMPER URGED THE BOARD TO HOLD OFF <br />ON ANY REZONING UNTIL THE DIASTER PLAN WAS COMPLETED. <br />MR. HARRY WILLEY OF WABASSO SPOKE OPPOSING THE <br />REZONING AS HE FELT THIS WOULD BE NOTHING BUT A REAL ESTATE <br />DEVELOPMENT, <br />DR. PAUL TAYLOR DISCUSSED THE VITAL NEED FOR HOUSING <br />FOR HOSPITAL PERSONNEL AND THE ADVISABILITY OF HAVING IT <br />LOCATED ADJACENT TO THE HOSPITAL. <br />DR. ROBERT WILLIAMS ALSO SPOKE OF THE HOUSING PROBLEM <br />AND POINTED OUT THAT VERO BEACH IS UNIQUE IN THAT IT HAS VERY <br />LITTLE MODERATE COST HOUSING. <br />DR. JOHN DAYTON DISCUSSED THE -URGENT NEED FOR BOTH <br />OFFICE SPACE AND HOUSING NEAR THE HOSPITAL AND THE NEED TO <br />ACT ON IT AS QUICKLY AS POSSIBLE. <br />A MOTION WAS MADE BY COMMISSIONER SIEBERT, SECONDED <br />BY COMMISSIONER MASSEY, TO GRANT THE REQUESTED REZONING AS <br />ADVERTISED.. <br />CHAIRMAN Loy STATED THAT SHE FELT THE HOUSING WAS NEEDED <br />AND THE AREA WAS CERTAINLY WELL BUFFERED, <br />DR, HUGH MCCRYSTAL DISCUSSED THE LACK OF PUBLIC TRANS- <br />PORTATION WHICH INCREASES THE NEED FOR HOUSING NEAR THE HOSPITAL. <br />ATTORNEY COOKSEY STATED THAT THIS REQUEST FOR REZONING <br />HAD BEEN FILED IN TWO PETITIONS AND IT WOULD BE POSSIBLE TO ACT <br />ON THE B-1, PLANNED BUSINESS DISTRICT..REZONING, AND POSSIBLY <br />CONTINUE THE R-2, MULTIPLE FAMILY DISTRICT REZONING UNTIL A <br />FULL BOARD IS PRESENT. <br />44 <br />eook 20 PQGf234 <br />
