APR 91975 <br />ON MOTION BY COMMISSIONER SIEBER;, SECONDED BY COMMISSIONER <br />SCHMUCKER, THE BOARD UNANIMOUSLY AUTHORIZED THE COUNTY ADMINISTRATOR TO <br />PROCEED WITH THE FOLLOWING REQUESTS FROM THE INDIAN RIVER COUNTY <br />SCHOOL BOARD. <br />1, A 35 MILE PER HOUR SPEED LIMIT BE ESTABLISHED FROM U.S. *HIGHWAY 1 <br />TO KINGS HIGHWAY. <br />2. AN ADDITIONAL SCHOOL ZONE OF 20 MILES PER HOUR BEGINNING 150 FEET <br />EAST AND WEST OF THE 43RD AVENUE INTERSECTION FOR 300 FEET BE <br />ESTABLISHED. <br />3. RELOCATING A SCHOOL ZONE SIGN IN FRONT OF MIDDLE SCHOOL SEVEN <br />TO THE EAST PROPERTY LINE. <br />THE COUNTY ADMINISTRATOR INFORMED THE BOARD OF A LETTER FROM <br />ANN REUTER, REAL ESTATE BROKER, REGARDING THE AVAILABILITY OF A TWO <br />STORY STRUCTURE KNOWN AS THE OLD GRANTS FURNITURE STORE ON 21ST STREET <br />THAT IS FOR SALE AT AN ASKING PRICE OF $90,500.00. THE SELLERS.HAVE <br />AGREED TO BRING THE STRUCTURE UP TO BUILDING CODE STANDARDS AFTER RE- <br />CEIVING AND ACCEPTING A SIGNED OFFER AND DEPOSIT. THIS BUILDING HAS <br />APPROXIMATELY 16,000 SQUARE FEET OF FLOOR SPACE. <br />THE BOARD MEMBERS WERE INTERESTED IN INSPECTING THIS BUILDING. <br />AND THE CHAIRMAN REQUESTED ANN REUTER TO SCHEDULE A TIME WHEN THE BUILDING <br />CAN BE INSPECTED. THE COUNTY ADMINISTRATOR; DON ADAMS, BUILDING DIRECTOR; <br />ALL THE COUNTY COMMISSIONERS AND MEMBERS OF THE PRESS WILL BE INVITED_TO <br />REVIEW THIS BUILDING. <br />THE COUNTY ADMINISTRATOR INFORMED THE BOARD OF A LETTER RECEIVED <br />FROM INDIAN RIVER PROCESSORS, INC. REGARDING A CAUTION LIGHT BEING IN- <br />STALLED AT THE INTERSECTION OF STATE ROAD 606 (OSLO ROAD AND 74TH AVENUE. <br />THE ENTRANCE TO THEIR PLANT IS LOCATED APPROXIMATELY 250 FEET SOUTH <br />OF OSLO ROAD ON 74TH AVENUE. A LARGE PORTION OF SEMI -TRACTORS WITH 40 <br />FOOT TRAILERS USE THIS ENTRANCE. THEY FEEL THIS IS A HAZARDOUS INTER- <br />SECTION FOR THE FOLLOWING REASONS: <br />1. THE SPEED LIMIT ON OSLO ROAD AT THIS INTERSECTION IS 55 M.P.H. <br />2. OSLO ROAD IS A PASSING ZONE AT THIS INTERSECTION <br />3. THERE IS A BRIDGE OVER A DRAINAGE CANAL ON THE EAST SIDE OF THIS <br />INTERSECTION, WHICH MAKES TURNING EAST ONTO OSLO ROAD FROM 74TH <br />AVENUE DIFFICULT, ESPECIALLY FOR SEMI -TRACTORS. <br />-28- <br />BOOK <br />.2 PACE 260 <br />
