JENNINGS, Administrator <br />ROAD AND BRIDGE DEPARTMENT <br />Mr. Jack Hoffman <br />County Finance Office <br />Indian River County Courthouse <br />Vero Beach, Florida 32960 <br />Dear Jack: <br />VERO BEACH, FLORIDA - 32960 <br />April 8, 1975 <br />In response to Item 41, page 7, of the County Audit, <br />please be advised that Florida Statute 34.171 specifically <br />states that the County shall pay all reasonable expenses <br />of the office of County Judge. <br />I interpret this Statute as a requirement on the part <br />of the County to make payment of the expenses and not to <br />make a lump sum distribution to the. County Judge, who in <br />turn would make payment. <br />I therefore advise you to have the County Judge <br />submit the expenses that he deems reasonable for the County <br />to pay to your office for payment. <br />I further specifically advise you not to make any lump <br />sum payments to the County Judge, as that is not authorized <br />by Statutes. <br />I trust you will find this opinion helpful. <br />Best regards, <br />GGC,Jr/ap <br />s <br />George G.
