P <br />ALIO :13 19,75;. <br />RESOLUTION NO. 148 <br />A RESOLUTION PETITIONING THE BOARD OF <br />COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF INDIAN RIVER <br />COUNTY,'FLORIDA, TO ESTABLISH A MUNICI- <br />PAL SERVICES TAXING UNIT OR REMIT FUNDS <br />TO THE TOWN OF INDIAN RIVER SHORES, FLORIDA <br />WHEREAS, the Town Council of the Town of Indian River Shores, <br />Florida, has determined that there are five (5) areas wil:hin the 1974-1975 <br />Indian River County, Florida, budget which pertain to services providing no . <br />benefit to the persons or property lying within the town of Indian River Shores, <br />Florida; and <br />WHEREAS, pursuant to Chapter 125.01, Florida Statutes, 1974, <br />the governing body of a municipality may petition the Board of County Com- <br />missioners "to develop an appropriate mechanism to finance such activity <br />which either may be by taxes, special assessments or service charges levied <br />solely upon residents or property in the unincorporated area, by the esta- <br />blishment of a municipal service taxing or benefit unit pursuant to paragraph <br />(q) of subsection (1) of this section or by remitting the identified cost of <br />service paid by the taxes levied upon property situate within the municipality <br />or municipalities to the municipality or municipalities"; and <br />WHEREAS, the Town Council of the Town of Indian River Shores, <br />Florida, has determined that it is in the best interest of its citizens and <br />property owners to exercise this right to petition; <br />NOW; THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Town Council of <br />the Town of Indian River Shores, Florida, that the Town Council does hereby <br />petition the Board of County Commissioners to develop an appropriate mecha- <br />nism to finance such activity which either may be by taxes, special assess- <br />ments or s.:rvice charges levied solely upon residents or property in the <br />• <br />SHARP, JOIINSTON & DROWN, ATTORNEYS AT LAW, VERO REACH, FLORIDA <br />800a 23 f ,:`E 19 <br />
