COMMISSIONER MASSEY LEFT THE MEETING. <br />ROBERT BERG, ASSISTANT PLANNING DIRECTOR, INFORMED THE BOARD THAT <br />THIS REZONING REQUEST WAS INITIATED BY AN INDIVIDUAL, AND THE ZONING COMMIS- <br />SION REQUESTED THE PLANNING DEPARTMENT TO STUDY THE ENTIRE AREA, CADENHEAD <br />SUBDIVISION AND THE AREA UNDER STUDY IS BOUNDED ON THE WEST BY THE FLORIDA <br />EAST COAST .RAILROAD, ON THE EAST BY U. S. HIGHWAY 1, AND ON THE SOUTH BY <br />87TH STREET, <br />THE PREDOMINANT USE OF THE LAND IS SINGLE FAMILY, AND THE PLANNING <br />DEPARTMENT RECOMMENDS REZONING FROM C-1 COMMERCIAL TO R-1 SINGLE FAMILY <br />DISTRICT. <br />OTTO STOUT HAS REQUESTED THAT HIS PROPERTY REMAIN IN C-1 COMMERCIAL, <br />THERE IS A STRUCTURE ON THIS PROPERTY THAT HAS BEEN CONDEMNED. THE ZONING <br />COMMISSION HAS AUTHORIZED A PUBLIC HEARING REGARDING THE REZONING OF THIS <br />PROPERTY, THE BASIS FOR THIS PUBLIC HEARING IS THAT THE PLANNING DEPARTMENT <br />FEELS THIS. PROPERTY IS TOO SMALL FOR A COMMERCIAL USE; ALSO IT IS A BAD <br />CORNER FOR A COMMERCIAL USE AND COULD CREATE A SERIOUS SITUATION AS FAR AS <br />TRAFFIC IS CONCERNED. MR. STOUT'S PROPERTY IS LOCATED ADJACENT TO THE RAIL- <br />ROAD AND ALONG 37TH STREET, THE SIZE OF THIS PROPERTY IS APPROXIMATELY 70 <br />FEET BY 110 FEET, <br />THE CHAIRMAN ASKED IF ANYONE PRESENT WISHED TO BE HEARD, <br />TOM PALMER, ATTORNEY REPRESENTING SEVERAL LAND OWNERS, STATED THAT <br />FREDA WILSON, THE OWNER OF LOTS 1, 2 AND 3 AND LOT 2, LOCATED ACROSS THE <br />ROAD, DID NOT RECEIVE.NOTICE OF THIS REZONING, <br />PAULINE BEERS HAS A LEASE WITH AN OPTION TO BUY PROPERTY THAT IS <br />BEING USED FOR COMMERCIAL PURPOSES, AND SHE WAS TOLD BY SOMEONE IN THE <br />COURTHOUSE THAT EVEN IF THE PROPERTY WAS REZONED, SHE COULD STILL USE THE <br />PROPERTY AND EXPAND THE COMMERCIAL USE, BECAUSE OF THAT INFORMATION, SHE <br />DID NOT APPEAR TO OPPOSE THE REZONING. MR. WHITTLE.OWNS LOTS 11 AND 12, HE <br />HAS AN UPHOLSTERY BUSINESS ON LOT 11 AND OPERATES A SMALL MOTEL ON LOT 12. <br />MR, PALMER STATED THAT BECAUSE OF THESE PEOPLE HE IS REQUESTING <br />THAT THIS REZONING REQUEST GO BACK TO THE ZONING COMMISSION FOR FURTHER CON- <br />SIDERATION. <br />OTTO STOUT APPEARED IN OPPOSITION TO THIS REZONING OF HIS PROPERTY. <br />21 <br />NOV 19197 <br />8701 <br />i'AGE154. <br />
