MR. .JENNINGS STATED THAT THIS RAILROAD CROSSING IS LOCATED SOUTH <br />OF SEBASTIAN BETWEEN WABASSO AND SEBASTIAN AND IS KNOWN AS THE "OLD <br />BUTTERMILK CROSSING," <br />THE COUNTY ADMINISTRATOR RECOMMENDED PARTICIPATING IN THIS REQUEST, <br />ON MOTION BY COMMISSIONER SCHMUCKER, SECONDED BY COMMISSIONER <br />MASSEY, THE BOARD UNANIMOUSLY APPROVED PARTICIPATING WITH THE DEPARTMENT <br />OF TRANSPORTATION ON PROJECT No. $$505-6902; CROSSING lo. 272163; LOCATION <br />OLD DIXIE HIGHWAY AT FLORIDA EAST COAST RAILROAD: SCOPE - INSTALL FLASHING <br />LIGHTS.& BELLS: ESTIMATED TOTAL COAST - $29,000.00 (THE COUNTY'S SHARE TO <br />BE 1O% OF THE ESTIMATED TOTAL AMOUNT) AND AUTHORIZED THE SIGNATURE OF THE <br />CHAIRMAN, <br />THE BOARD DISCUSSED A LETTER FROM RUDY HUBBARD, PRESIDENT OF WGYL <br />RADIO CORP., WHO PROPOSED INSTALLING A PUBLIC ADDRESS SYSTEM IPJ THE COUNTY <br />COMMISSION ROOM AT THE COURTHOUSE, MR, HUBBARD SUGGESTED USING EXISTING <br />EQUIPMENT AND SUPPLEMENTING IT WITH AS MUCH EQUIPMENT AS NEEDED TO PROVIDE <br />A PERFECT PUBLIC ADDRESS SYSTEM, WGYL WILL MAINTAIN ALL EQUIPMENT. EXISTING <br />EQUIPMENT WILL REMAIN THE PROPERTY OF THE COUNTY, AND ALL ADDITIONAL EQUIP- <br />MENT WILL REMAIN THE PROPERTY OF WGYL. THE COST OF THIS SERVICE TO THE <br />COUNTY WILL BE $40.00 PER MONTH, <br />THE COUNTY ADMINISTRATOR STATED THAT MR, HUBBARD DID INSPECT WHAT <br />EQUIPMENT THERE IS IN THE COMMISSION ROOM AND THEN SUBMITTED THIS PROPOSAL, <br />PETE NOEL, NEWS DIRECTOR WITH WGYL, STATED THAT WGYL HAS AN ENGINEER <br />ON STAFF, <br />CHAIRMAN LOY ASKED IF WE WOULD BE BETTER OFF JUST PURCHASING WHAT <br />EQUIPMENT IS NEEDED RATHER THAN PAYING A MONTHLY SERVICE CHARGE, <br />COMMISSIONER SIEBERT SUGGESTED THAT MR, NOEL ASK MR. HUBBARD TO PRE- <br />PARE AN ALTERNATE PROPOSAL WHERE THE COUNTY OWNS THE EQUIPMENT AND TO INCLUDE <br />THE COST OF A MONTHLY MAINTENANCE AGREEMENT, <br />MR, NOEL STATED THAT HE WILL FORWARD THIS INFORMATION ON TO IIR, <br />HUBBARD WHO CAN THEN CONTACT THE COUNTY ADMINISTRATOR WITH ADDITIONAL INFOR- <br />MATION. <br />THE COUNTY ADMINISTRATOR INFORMED THE BOARD THAT THE DEPARTMENT OF <br />TRANSPORTATION HAS BEEN DISCUSSING LOCATING AN OFFICIAL MAINTENANCE YARD IN <br />INDIAN RIVER COUNTY.
