THE COUNTY ADMINISTRATOR INFORMED THE BOARD THAT IN A SAFETY <br />SURVEY REPORT PREPARED BY CRUM AND FOSTER INSURANCE COMPANY, WHO INSURE <br />THE COUNTY, THERE WERE -17 RECOMMENDATIONS, AND THE FIRST ITEM WAS AS FOLLOWS: <br />1. THAT ARRANGEMENTS BE MADE TO STRATEGICALLY LOCATE <br />EMERGENCY BATTERY POWERED LIGHTING UNITS FOR THE <br />COURTHOUSE BUILDINr, AND THE COURTHOUSE ANNEX BUILDING. <br />MR, JENNINGS CONTINUED THAT HE REQUESTED AND RECEIVED TWO PROPOSALS <br />FROM ELECTRICAL CONTRACTORS FOR INSTALLATION OF THE NINE EMERGENCY -POWERED <br />LIGHTING UNITS. THESE QUOTATIONS ARE AS FOLLOWS: <br />PATTERSON ELECTRI: - FIRM PRICE $1,425.00 <br />INDIAN RIVER ELECTRIC, INC. - FIRM <br />PRICE BUT REQUESTS "DRAW AS WORK <br />PROGRESSES." $1,370.00 <br />THE COUNTY ADMINISTRATOR STATED THAT THE PURPOSE OF THESE LIGHTS <br />IS TO PROTECT THE PUBLIC AND EMPLOYEES IN THE EVENT OF A POWER FAILURE. <br />ON MOTION BY COMMISSIONER MASSEY, SECONDED BY COMMISSIONER <br />SCHMUCKER, THE BOARD UNANIMOUSLY AUTHORIZED THE COUNTY ADMINISTRATOR TO <br />CONTRACT FOR EMERGENCY BATTERY POWERED LIGHTING TO BE LOCATED IN THE <br />COURTHOUSE AND COURTHOUSE ANNEX BUILDINGS AND TO ACCEPT THE BID OF <br />INDIAN RIVER ELECTRIC INC., AS BEING THE LOWEST AND BEST BID, IN THE <br />AMOUNT OF $1,370.00. <br />THE COUNTY ADMINISTRATOR INFORMED THE BOARD THAT THE LAW ENFORCEMENT <br />ASSISTANCE ADMINISTRATION, THROUGH THE BUREAU OF CRIMINAL. JUSTICE PLANNING <br />AND ASSISTANCE HAS BEEN AUTHORIZED TO MAKE FEDERAL GRANTS TO ASSIST LOCAL <br />GOVERNMENT IN THE IMPROVEMENT OF CRIMINAL JUSTICE.. THE COUNTY CAN APPLY <br />FOR THIS GRANT, WHICH"IS IN THE AMOUNT OF '$7,622.00 AND THE MONEY WILL BE <br />USED TO UPGRADE COMMUNICATION EQUIPMENT. <br />ON MOTION BY COMMISSIONER WODTKE, SECONDED BY COMMISSIONER SIEBERT, <br />THE BOARD UNANIMOUSLY AGREED THAT UPGRADING COMMUNICATION EQUIPMENT WOULD <br />BE IN THE BEST INTEREST OF THE GENERAL PUBLIC AND ADOPTED RESOLUTION No, <br />75-76. <br />DEC a WS <br />Boot( 24- AcE x:65 <br />
