ATTORNEY COLLINS RETURNED TO THE MEETING AT 9:30 O'CLOCK A,1, <br />A MOTION WAS• MADE BY COMMISSIONER SCHMUCKER, SECONDED BY COMMIS- <br />SIONER MASSEY, THAT NO APPOINTMENT OF A NEW CIVIL DEFENSE DIRECTOR BE MADE <br />AT THIS TIME UNTIL FURTHER STUDY COULD BE MADE AS TO THE NECESSITY OF A <br />FULL-TIME DIRECTOR OR THE CONTINUATION OF A PART-TIME DIRECTOR, <br />COMMISSIONER WODTKE EXPRESSED CONCERN ABOUT OPERATING WITHOUT A <br />CIVIL DEFENSE DIRECTOR, HE FEELS THE COUNTY NEEDS A CIVIL DEFENSE DIRECTOR <br />AND FELT WE SHOULD NOT WAIT ANY GREAT LENGTH OF TIME TO MAKE THIS DECISION. <br />COMMISSIONERS SCHMUCKER AND MASSEY WITHDREW THEIR MOTION, <br />ON MOTION BY COMMISSIONER SCHMUCKER, SECONDED BY COMMISSIONER <br />SIEBERT, THE BOARD UNANIMOUSLY AGREED TO REQUEST JAY SMITH, VOLUNTEER <br />DEPUTY CIVIL DEFENSE DIRECTOR TO SERVE IN AN OFFICIAL CAPACITY AND THAT <br />COMMISSIONER WODTKE WILL INVESTIGATE THE NECESSITY OF A REPLACEMENT AND <br />WILL REPORT BACK TO THE BOARD AT THE JANUARY 21, 1976 MEETING, <br />IT WAS THE FEELING OF THE BOARD NOT TO RECEIVE APPLICATIONS FOR <br />THIS POSITION AT THIS TIME UNTIL COMMISSIONER WODTKE REPORTS BACK TO THE <br />BOARD, <br />DONNA SCOTT, CHIEF CLERK, COUNTY COURT, APPEARED TO DISCUSS <br />APPROVAL TO PURCHASE A DIEBOLD MACHINE FOR COUNTY COURT, <br />THIS ITEM WAS DISCUSSED BY THE BOARD AT THEIR IOVEMBER 19TH AND <br />DECEMBER 3RD MEETINGS, <br />MRS, SCOTT STATED THAT THE PRESENT MACHINE HOLDS A CARD ON EVERY <br />PERSON IN THE COUNTY WHO HAS BEEN CITED, WHEN THIS MACHINE WAS PURCHASED, <br />THEY HAD HOPED.IT WOULD LAST UNTIL 1977 WHEN CITY COURT IS SCHEDULED TO BE <br />PHASED IN, BUT IT IS TOO FULL NOW AND A NEW MACHINE IS NECESSARY, THE <br />MACHINE PRESENTLY BEING USED COST $2,677,00 AND THE TRADE-IN VALUE IS NOW <br />$300,00, GENE MORRIS, TAX COLLECTOR, IS IN NEED OF THIS TYPE OF MACHINE,. <br />AND MRS, SCOTT SUGGESTED THAT RATHER THAN TRADING IT IN THAT IT BE TURNED <br />OVER TO MR, MORRIS, <br />MRS, SCOTT CONTINUED THAT SHE HAS BEEN ASSURED THAT THE FLOOR <br />WILL HOLD THE NEW MACHINE WHICH IS THREE TIMES LARGER THAN THE ONE BEING <br />USED, THE NEW MACHINE COSTS $4,294,00 PLUS $550,00 INSTALLATION, THE <br />COMPANY WILL DISMANTLE THE OLD MACHINE AND INSTALL IT IN MR, MORRIS' OFFICE <br />AND ASSEMBLE THE NEW MACHINE, FOR THIS INSTALLATION .COST. <br />DEC 171975 <br />5 <br />
