CHAIRMAN LOY STATED THAT AT THE DECEMBER 17TH, 1975 MEETING, <br />IT WAS THE DECISION OF THE BOARD TO REQUEST JAY SMITH TO SERVE AS THE <br />CIVIL DEFENSE DIRECTOR ON A VOLUNTEER BASIS EFFECTIVE JANUARY 1, 1976,! <br />SHE INFORMED THE BOARD THAT MR, SMITH HAS AGREED TO SERVE UNTIL A DECISION <br />HASBEEN MADE REGARDING THE HIRING OF A NEW CIVIL DEFENSE DIRECTOR, <br />THE COUNTY ADMINISTRATOR STATED THAT AT THE DECEMBER 17TH <br />MEETING THE BOARD AUTHORIZED HIM TO PROCEED WITH CONTACTING DEALERS TO SE- <br />CURE QUOTES ON EQUIPMENT THAT COULD DO THE JOB AT BLUE CYPRESS LAKE PARK <br />THAT THE DEPARTMENT OF ENVIRONMENTAL REGULATIONS IS REQUIRING, AND HE HAS <br />LOCATED THE FOLLOWING PIECES OF EQUIPMENT: <br />1969 GMC - WHICH IS OPERATIONAL AT A DELIVERED PRICE OF $12,050,00 <br />1973 DIESEL - 10 TO 12 CUBIC YARDS DELIVERED FROM WINSTON SALEM AT <br />A COST OP. $14,350,00, <br />1975 TRUCK MADE BY HESTON CORPORATION - PAK-RAT AT A DELIVERED COST <br />OF $12,600,00 <br />HE CONTINUED THAT HE HAS MADE ARRANGEMENTS WITH WILLIAM MCCLURE, <br />SUPERINTENDENT OF THE COUNTY SCHOOL DISTRICT, TO USE TWO OF THEIR COLLECTION <br />BOXES UNTIL WE CAN OBTAIN OUR OWN EQUIPMENT, <br />IT WAS HIS RECOMMENDATION TO PURCHASE THE NEW 1975 PAK-RAT TRUCK <br />IN THE AMOUNT OF $12,600,00, BUT HE ADVISED THE BOARD THAT THE PURCHASE OF <br />THIS TYPE TRUCK WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THIS YEARS BUDGET BECAUSE THIS IS A <br />NEW REQUIREMENT ESTABLISHED BY THE DEPARTMENT OF ENVIRONMENTAL REGULATIONS, <br />ATTORNEY COLLINS QUESTIONED IF THERE WOULD BE A POSSIBILITY OF <br />CONTRACTING WITH THE SCHOOL BOARD FOR USE OF THEIR EQUIPMENT, <br />THE COUNTY ADMINISTRATOR STATED THAT HE WOULD HAVE TO MAKE TWO <br />TRIPS A WEEK TO HAUL THOSE BOXES FOR EMPTYING, AND IT IS A 70 MILE RUN AND <br />ALSO HE DID NOT FEEL THE SCHOOL BOARD COULD SPARE THESE COLLECTION BOXES <br />FOR MORE THAN A SHORT TIME, <br />THE COUNTY ADMINISTRATOR STATED THAT IT IS HIS INTENTION THAT IF <br />THE BOARD AUTHORIZES PURCHASE OF THIS TRUCK, IT WILL BE PLACED AT BLUE <br />CYPRESS LAKE PARK AND THE PARK OPERATOR WILL HAUL THE CONTENTS OF THE COLLEC- <br />TION BOXES TO THE LANDFILL OPERATION FOR EMPTYING, HE CONTINUED THAT THIS <br />PAK-RAT TRUCK HOLDS 10 YARDS OF SOLID WASTE MATERIAL AFTER COMPACTION, <br />7 <br />3119`5 <br />gook 24 rACF237 <br />
