1 <br />J�L <br />1 <br />TUESDAY, APRIL 1st 1930. <br />The Board of 'County Commissioners in and for Indian River County, Florida, met at <br />the Court House in Vero Beach, Florida, on Tuesday, April 1st 1930s at 10 o'clock <br />A.M.with the fallowing members of the Board present: Albert 0. Helseth, Ch4irman; <br />J.D.Yongue; J.W.LaBruce; J.J.P.Hamilton and John H. Atkin. Also present were Miles <br />FTirren, Clerk and Clark S. Rice, Sheriff. <br />The minutes of the previous meetings were read and approved. <br />Mr. J,. L. Stinson and others appeared before the Board regarding ditch West of <br />Wabasso running through Indian River Gitrus Growers property. It was ordered that the <br />County Engineer run out lines on proposed ditch and make estimate of cost and the <br />citizens in that community secure right-of-way for such ditch and make report at the <br />next meeting of this Board. <br />It was ordered that 1'abasso road at the center of Section 26 between Sections 26 <br />and 27 then North on section line between Sections 26 and 27 for 1/2 mile, that ditches <br />be enlarged and deepened and road be raised. Also the road at tight angles in :Section <br />26 and Section 27 and between :Sections 26 and 35 be eased up. <br />Harry Fersch appeared before the Board regarding ditch near his place. It was <br />ordered that the County Engineer and Commissioner Atkin look this over and report back <br />to the Board. <br />0 <br />The County Nurse made her report of activities among the paupers. It *as ordered <br />that James H. Donaldson of Winter Beach be placed on the -pauper list to receivet $15.00 <br />per month until the further orders of this Board. <br />The Mothers' pension application of Annie Park, Box 100, Sebastian, was received <br />and considered, and it was ordered she be placed on such list to receive $20.00 per <br />month until the further orders of this Board. <br />R. J. Young appeared before the Board regarding drainage of roads west of Vero <br />Beach. <br />The County Agricultural Agent filed his report of activities for the month of <br />March 1930. <br />B. K. Kersey appeared before the Board regarding road conditions West of minter <br />Beach. <br />Herman J. Zeuch appeared before the Board regarding Court House and offered the <br />building known as the Campbell Arcade Building for the sum of $45,000.00 plus the 1929 <br />taxes on the building. The some was taken under consideration. <br />Chas E Berg, appeared before the Board regarding County insurance policies. <br />Chas D. Toole, Fire Chief, appeared before the Board and requested donation out <br />of the Publicity Fund, for advertising purposes to assist in the Fireman's Convention <br />of <br />the State to be <br />held in Vero Beach. It <br />was <br />ordered that $150.00 be donated out of <br />the <br />Publicity, Fund <br />for .general advertising <br />for <br />this purpose. <br />Dr. J. C. DuBose and E.G.Thatcher appeared before the Board and requested $'500.00 <br />for Publicity purposes to be used in connection with display at the Canadian National <br />Exposition to be held in Toronto, Canada, in August and September 1930.
