RESOLUTION NO. 2004- 131 <br />RESOLUTION OF THE INDIAN RIVER COUNTY BOARD <br />OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS REQUESTING ONE <br />HUNDRED PERCENT (100%) FEDERAL DISASTER <br />RELIEF FOR HURRICANES FRANCES AND JEANNE. <br />WHEREAS, Indian River County suffered catastrophic losses due to the direct <br />impact of Hurricanes Frances and Jeanne; and <br />WHEREAS, Hurricanes Frances and Jeanne were officially recognized and <br />declared disasters by the local, state, and federal government agencies having <br />appropriate legal authority to do so; and <br />WHEREAS, direct impact of two hurricanes on a single community within a <br />period of three weeks is historically unprecedented; and <br />WHEREAS, the ability to maintain the present tax base has been jeopardized as <br />a result of the two combined disasters; and <br />WHEREAS, the fiscal and economic recovery of Indian River County will be of a <br />long duration, and <br />WHEREAS, the magnitudes of two combined. disasters has seriously jeopardized <br />the ability to meet local disaster obligations. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE INDIAN RIVER COUNTY <br />BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS, THAT: <br />1. The Board of County Commissioners hereby petitions the Governor of the <br />State of Florida to declare Indian River County eligible for one hundred percent (100%) <br />reimbursement of disaster related expenses for both hurricanes. <br />2. The Board further requests the Governor to petition the United States <br />government to also to declare Indian River County eligible for one hundred percent <br />(100%) reimbursement of disaster related expenses for both hurricanes. <br />This Resolution was moved for adoption by Commissioner <br />Adams and the motion was seconded by Commissioner <br />Lowther , and, upon being put to a vote, the vote was as follows: <br />Chairman Caroline D.
