RESOLUTION NO. 2006- 111 <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY <br />COMMISSIONERS OF INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, <br />FLORIDA, IN SUPPORT OF A FEDERAL <br />MARRIAGE AMENDMENT TO THE UNITED <br />STATES CONSTITUTION. <br />WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Indian River County <br />believes that a Federal Constitutional Amendment is needed in order to stop the <br />absolute destruction of the institution of marriage in America; and <br />WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Indian River County <br />supports a Constitutional Amendment defining marriage as the union of one man and <br />one woman; and <br />WHEREAS, the 109th Congress in its Second Session proposed House <br />Joint Resolution 88, the "Marriage Protection Amendment"; <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY <br />COMMISSIONERS OF INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, FLORIDA, that It supports a Federal <br />Marriage Constitutional Amendment stating that "Marriage in the United States shall <br />consist only of the union of a man and a woman. Neither this Constitution, nor the <br />constitution of any State, shall be construed to require that marriage or the legal <br />incidents thereof be conferred upon any union other than the union of a man and a <br />woman". <br />F:Wttorney\Nancy\DOCS\RES\marriage.doc <br />
