RESOLUTION NO. 2006- 111
A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY
COMMISSIONERS OF INDIAN RIVER COUNTY,
FLORIDA, IN SUPPORT OF A FEDERAL
MARRIAGE AMENDMENT TO THE UNITED
STATES CONSTITUTION.
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Indian River County
believes that a Federal Constitutional Amendment is needed in order to stop the
absolute destruction of the institution of marriage in America; and
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Indian River County
supports a Constitutional Amendment defining marriage as the union of one man and
one woman; and
WHEREAS, the 109th Congress in its Second Session proposed House
Joint Resolution 88, the "Marriage Protection Amendment";
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY
COMMISSIONERS OF INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, FLORIDA, that It supports a Federal
Marriage Constitutional Amendment stating that "Marriage in the United States shall
consist only of the union of a man and a woman. Neither this Constitution, nor the
constitution of any State, shall be construed to require that marriage or the legal
incidents thereof be conferred upon any union other than the union of a man and a
woman".
F:Wttorney\Nancy\DOCS\RES\marriage.doc
