.y <br /> RESOLUTION 2005- 084 <br /> WHEREAS, the Florida Enterprise Zone program will enhance the initiatives <br /> already begun through the Gifford Front Porch program; and <br /> i <br /> WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners will create an Enterprise Zone <br /> Development Agency, pursuant to Section 290.0056, Florida Statutes; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners will create and adopt an <br /> Enterprise Zone Strategic Plan, pursuant to Section 290.0057, Florida Statutes. <br /> WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Indian River County, in <br /> conjunction with the City of Vero Beach, propose to make a formal joint Enterprise Zone <br /> application to the Governor's Office of Trade, Tourism and Economic Development on <br /> behalf of the Nominated Area. <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY <br /> COMMISSIONERS OF INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, FLORIDA, that: <br /> 1. The Nominated Area described above exhibits extreme and unacceptable <br /> levels of poverty, unemployment, physical deterioration and economic disinvestment; <br /> and <br /> 2. The Board determines that the rehabilitation, conservation or redevelopment <br /> of such area is necessary in the interest of public health, safety, and welfare of the <br /> residents; and <br /> 3. The Board determines that the revitalization of such area can occur only if the <br /> private sector can be induced to invest its own resources that build or rebuild the <br /> economic vitality of the area; <br /> 4. The Board hereby nominates to the Governor's Office of Trade, Tourism and <br /> Economic Development an area to include Census Tract 502, Block Group 1, and <br /> Census Tract 503.02, Block Groups 1, 3 and 4 as a designated Enterprise Zone <br /> pursuant to Florida Statutes §290.001 - 290.016. <br /> 2 <br />
