RESOLUTION NO. 2007- 040 <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY <br />COMMISSIONERS OF INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, <br />FLORIDA IN SUPPORT OF THE MARINE <br />RESOURCES COUNCIL'S APPLICATION FOR A <br />GRANT TO PURCHASE PROPERTY ALONG THE <br />ST. SEBASTIAN RIVER. <br />WHEREAS, the Marine Resources Council of East Florida (MRC) is <br />applying for a Florida Communities Trust (FCT) Florida Forever grant to <br />purchase property along the St. Sebastian River watershed area and to remove <br />exotics in the area; and <br />WHEREAS, the property to be purchased lies within the boundaries of <br />Indian River County; and <br />WHEREAS, the purchase and management of the property will inure to <br />the benefit of the residents of Indian River County, as well as visitors to the <br />County, and will further the public interest; and <br />WHEREAS, in order for MRC to give FCT reasonable assurances that it <br />can do the project and manage the site in perpetuity, it is necessary for the <br />County to pledge to carry out MRC's obligations if MRC should fail; <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY <br />COMMISSIONERS OF INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, FLORIDA, that: <br />1. The Board of County Commissioners of Indian River <br />County fully supports the MRC grant application to <br />purchase certain property along the St. Sebastian River <br />Watershed area in Indian River County and for the removal <br />of all exotics from the purchased property. <br />2. As a demonstration of its support, and pursuant to Section <br />9K-7.003(10), Florida Administrative Code, the County <br />hereby pledges to take over all responsibilities of MRC <br />related to the grant and agrees to manage the Project Site <br />pursuant to the terms and conditions outlined in the FCT <br />grant application in the event that MRC is unable to carry <br />out its responsibilities for any reason. <br />3. The County is willing to be named as a co-signer on the <br />Grant Award Agreement and provide any other assurances <br />to FCT as deemed necessary to adequately protect the <br />public interest. In the event that MRC can no longer hold <br />title to the property, the County is willing to accept title to <br />the property. <br />
