RESOLUTION 2001- 039 <br /> A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY <br /> COMMISSIONERS OF INDIAN RIVER <br /> COUNTY, FLORIDA, SUPPORTING THE <br /> INDIAN RIVER LAGOON SCENIC HIGHWAY <br /> BEAUTIFICATION GRANT PROPOSAL, AND <br /> DIRECTING THE CLERK TO THE BOARD OF <br /> COUNTY COMMISSIONERS TO SEND A <br /> COPY OF THIS RESOLUTION TO THE <br /> FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF <br /> TRANSPORTATION. <br /> WHEREAS, many roadside areas and median strips abutting Department of <br /> Transportation right-of-way areas should be maintained and attractively landscaped; and <br /> WHEREAS, the use of native, drought-tolerant plants for landscaping, and the use <br /> of innovative irrigation techniques will conserve vital water supplies; and <br /> WHEREAS, Indian River County is supportive of the Scenic Highway Program and <br /> supports inter-county efforts to beautify the Indian River Lagoon Scenic Highway, and <br /> WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners is supportive of future Scenic <br /> Highway Beautification Applications focusing on similar plantings in right-of-way areas <br /> within Indian River County; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Indian River Lagoon Scenic Highway Coalition's Beautification <br /> grant proposal represents a regional approach to beautifying our state's newest scenic <br /> highway, <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County Commissioners <br /> of Indian River County, Florida, as follows: <br /> 1. The Board of County Commissioners supports the Indian River Lagoon <br /> Scenic Highway Beautification Grant Proposal. <br /> 2. The Clerk to the Board of County Commissioners is directed to send a copy <br /> of this Resolution to the Florida Department of Transportation. <br /> The resolution was moved for adoption by Commissioner Macht <br /> and the motion was seconded by Commissioner Ti p1ji n , and, upon <br /> being put to a vote, the vote was as follows: <br />
