STATE OF FLORIDA <br />FUNDING FOR MEDICAL EXAMINERS' PROGRAM <br />The 1976 Florida Legislature has appropriated $1,404,000 to augment, support, and <br />improve a uniform, statewide medical examiner program. This state funding will be <br />allocated to counties on a per capita basis. <br />AGREEMENT <br />THIS AGREEMENT entered into the first day of July, 1976, establishes a procedure <br />for funding the Florida Medical Examiner Program by the Department of Health and <br />Rehabilitative Services, hereinafter referred to as the Department, and the County <br />Commission of Indian River County, hereinafter referred to as the County, <br />for Fiscal Year, 1976-77. <br />I <br />1. The County shall use these funds granted by the Department for the <br />sole purpose of augmenting, supporting, and improving medical <br />examiner services by providing fees for service, salaries, equipment, <br />buildings, transportation, investigations, autopsies, toxicology <br />laboratory services, and other expenses related to medical examiner <br />services. <br />2. The County agrees to consult and cooperate with the District Medical <br />Examiner of District 19 in determining the requirements of providing <br />fees for service, salaries, equipment, buildings, transportation, <br />investigations, autopsies, toxicology laboratory services and other <br />expenses related to medical examiner services. <br />3. The County agrees to provide for equitable and reasonable adminis- <br />trative costs necessary for the District Medical Examiner to conduct <br />medical examiner services for the County. <br />4. The County agrees to enter into appropriate working arrangements <br />with other countieb under the jurisdiction of the Medical Examiner <br />of District 19 , and other such counties as may be necessary to <br />provide uniform medical examiner services for the district. <br />5. The County agrees to provide all services and facilities as may be <br />necessary to carry out the intent of Chapter 406, Florida Statutes. <br />6. The County agrees to provide the Department, at the end of each <br />quarter, a report identifying total funds expended or encumbered <br />for medical examiner services in areas such as: <br />a. Salaries and fees for service <br />b. Transportation <br />c. Facilities and Equipment ° <br />d. Administrative Costs <br />e. Other Related Expenses <br />7.. The County agrees that any funds not expended at the end of the <br />fiscal year shall be placed in a Medical Examiners Service Trust <br />Fund or the County will otherwise show intention and proof of <br />encumbrance of such funds for future medical examiner services or <br />facilities. <br />II <br />1. The Department agrees to grant to the County the total sum of <br />$7,650 , with the quarterly sum of $1,910 <br />to be allocated immediately after the beginning of each quarter <br />based on a county population of 45,038 or .54+5 29 <br />of the total state population of 8,248,851. <br />2. The Department may revise the allocated sums only upon authorization <br />of the Cabinet or other competent authority. <br />L '7 19;W, 26 .., .:159 <br />
