RESOLUTION NO. 2006-186 <br /> A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF <br /> INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, FLORIDA, IN SUPPORT OF A NATIONAL <br /> SCULLING TRAINING AND COMPETITION SITE ALONG THE SOUTH <br /> SIDE OF THE C-54 CANAL. <br /> WHEREAS, the C-54 Canal has been used for practice or competition by 16 different <br /> colleges and universities as well as being used or planned to be used by 9 high schools and <br /> rowing clubs; and <br /> WHEREAS, a national sculling training and competition site would attract national <br /> competitive events; and <br /> WHEREAS, a national sculling training and competition site would entice northern <br /> colleges to train here in the winter months and draw tourists to both Indian River County and ' <br /> Brevard County to enjoy the many other recreational and cultural attractions; <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF <br /> INDIAN RIVER COUNTY that: <br /> 1. The Board requests support of the State Legislature to provide funds in the next fiscal <br /> year (2007/2008) to the St. Johns River Water Management District's budget for a sculling <br /> training and competition site along the south side of the C-54 Canal, and <br /> 1 <br /> 2. The Board directs this Resolution be presented to the Indian River County Legislative <br /> Delegation. <br /> The resolution was moved for adoption by Commissioner O'Bryan, and the motion was <br /> seconded by Commissioner Wheeler, and, upon being put to a vote, the vote was as follows: <br /> Chairman Gary C. Wheeler Aye <br /> Vice Chairman Sandra L. Bowden Aye <br /> Commissioner Wesley S. Davis Aye <br /> Commissioner Joseph E. Flescher Aye <br /> Commissioner Peter D. O'Bryan Aye <br /> The Chairman thereupon declared the resolution duly passed and adopted this 51h day <br /> of December, 2006. _ <br /> INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, FLORIDA <br /> Attest: J. K.
