This annual report encompasses the period from <br />July 1, 1975, through June 30, 1976. <br />Compared to last year there were more lightning fires and an increase in <br />arson fires. The largest concentration of arson fires was just south of <br />Vero Beach and Wabasso area. The increase in acreage burned was primarily <br />due to several large arson -type fires. Division of Forestry crews took <br />action on 223 fires which burned 1,501 acresi Our crews were able to <br />save $359,775 in improvements. <br />During the period of this report the Division of Forestry expended <br />$54,810 in Indian River County.
