OCT 61976 <br />ORDINANCE NO. 76-16 <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS <br />OF INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, FLORIDA, REQUIRING <br />THE SHERIFF OF INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, FLORIDA, <br />TO CARRY LIABILITY INSURANCE ON ALL MOTOR VEHICLES <br />OWNED OR LEASED BY THE SHERIFF'S DEPARTMENT TO THE <br />EXTENT OF $250,000.00 BODILY INJURY LIABILITY PER <br />PERSON; $500,000.00 FOR EACH OCCURRENCE; $100,000.00 <br />PROPERTY DAMAGE LIABILITY FOR EACH ACCIDENT; PROVIDING <br />AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br />WHEREAS, The Board of County Commissioners of <br />Indian River County, Florida, is authorized as a local subdivision <br />of the State to purchase and carry liability insurance on all motor <br />vehicles owned or leased by the County or any Department thereof as required <br />by Section 455.06, Florida Statutes, and <br />WHEREAS, The Board of County Commissioners of <br />Indian River County, Florida, feels it advisable and in the best <br />interests of the people of Indian River County to adopt an <br />ordinance providing for liability insurance on all motor vehicles owned <br />or leased by the Indian River County Sheriff's Department as <br />required under -Section 455.06, Florida Statutes. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of <br />County Commissioners of Indian River County, Florida, does hereby <br />require that the Sheriff of Indian River t County, Florida, maintain <br />insurance against legal liability for the death, injury, or disability <br />of any person arising from or in connection with the operation of any <br />motor vehicle owned, leased, or operated by the Sheriff of Indian River <br />County, Florida, or any of his employees, to the extent of $250,000.00 <br />bodily injury liability per person; $500,000.00 bodily injury liability <br />per occurrence;$100,000 property damage liability per accident. <br />BUOk27 <br />r., U <br />
