RESOLUTION NO. 2008- 044 <br />WHEREAS, over thirty Florida local governments, including Indian River <br />County, have enacted land acquisition financing programs in the past decades, and <br />these conservation programs serve to leverage Florida Forever funding and increase <br />the impact of State land conservation funding, and <br />WHEREAS, the residents of Indian River County (County) have benefited <br />greatly from the FCT program, and the County has worked closely with the Department <br />of Community Affairs, and the Department of Community Affairs has participated with <br />the County in Twenty -Three (23) different acquisition projects, and <br />WHEREAS, the Florida State Legislature is currently considering a <br />successor program to Florida Forever, and the Board of County Commissioners for <br />Indian River County proclaimed by resolution dated February 20, 2007, their support for <br />a successor program, and <br />WHEREAS, the Florida State Legislature is considering shifting the FCT <br />program out of the DCA and placing the program with the Department of Environmental <br />Protection (DEP). <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY <br />COMMISSIONERS OF INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, FLORIDA, that: <br />1. The Board supports the State of Florida Legislature for the creation <br />and funding of a successor program to the Florida Forever program. <br />2.
