RESOLUTION 2004-096 <br />INDIAN RIVER COUNTY RESOLUTION DECLARING A 7 -DAY EXTENSION <br />TO THE STATE OF LOCAL EMERGENCY <br />WHEREAS, by Resolution 2004-095, the Board of County Commissioners of <br />Indian River County declared a State of Local Emergency with respect to <br />Hurricane Frances; and <br />WHEREAS, Hurricane Frances made a direct hit on Indian River County causing <br />extensive losses of power, water, sewer, and shortages of gasoline, food and ice; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, Chapter 252.38(3), Florida Statutes, grants Emergency <br />Management powers to political subdivisions, including the Declaration of the <br />State of Emergency declared locally; and <br />WHEREAS, the State of Emergency is limited to seven days, but may be <br />extended, as necessary, in 7 -day increments, <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County Commissioners <br />of Indian River County, Florida, this 8 to day of September, 2004, that the State <br />of Emergency, including the waiver of procedures and formalities declared in <br />Resolution 2004-095 is hereby extended an additional seven days; and the <br />County Administrator is hereby authorized to extend the State of Local <br />Emergency for additional 7 -day increments, as necessary in his judgment, to <br />ensure the health, safety and welfare of the citizens of Indian River County, <br />without further authorization by the Board of County Commissioners. <br />The resolution was moved for adoption by Commissioner NeijhPrger and the <br />motion was seconded by Commissioner Macht , and, upon being put to a <br />vote, the vote was as follows: <br />Chairman <br />Vice -Chairman <br />Commissioner <br />Commissioner <br />Commissioner <br />Caroline D.
