Acquisition and distribution, with or without compensation of <br />supplies, materials and facilities. <br />8. Appropriation and expenditure of public funds. <br />. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County <br />Commissioners of Indian River County, Florida, this 23rd day of September, 2004, <br />that <br />1. Hurricane Jeanne poses a serious threat to the lives and property <br />of residents of Indian River County and that a State of Local <br />Emergency shall be declared, effective immediately, for all of Indian <br />River County, including all unincorporated and incorporated areas. <br />The State of Local Emergency will be in effect for seven (7) days. <br />2. The Board of County Commissioners hereby exercises its authority <br />and waives the .procedures and formalities required by law of a <br />political subdivision, as provided in Chapter 252.38, Florida <br />Statutes. <br />3. The Board of County Commissioners hereby authorizes the County <br />Administrator, or his designee, to issue any necessary emergency <br />orders and rules; and the County Administrator is hereby <br />authorized to extend the State of Local Emergency for additional 7 - <br />day increments, as necessary in his judgment, to ensure the health, <br />safety and welfare of the citizens of Indian River County, without <br />further authorization by the Board of County Commissioners. <br />The resolution was moved for adoption by Commissioner <br />Adams and the motion was seconded by Commissioner <br />Lowther , and, upon being put to a vote, the vote was as follows: <br />K <br />F:\attorney\nancy\DOCS\FORMS\state of local emergency hurricane jeanne.doc <br />
