OFFICE HE CONTINUED THAT IT IS DOCKED IN A SLIP AT VERO MARINE CENTER' <br />AND THEY HAVE TO PAY STORAGE ON IT, SHERIFF .JOYCE INFORMED THE BOARD THAT <br />THE MARINE PATROL HAS AGREED TO TAKE THE BOAT, PUT NEW MOTORS IN IT, AND <br />KEEP IT ACROSS FROM THE SEBASTIAN INLET TO BE USED IN THEIR NARCOTICS WORK. <br />HE NOTED THAT THEY WILL MAINTAIN THE BOAT, AND WE WILL HAVE THE USE OF IT <br />ALSO. HE ASKED IF HE COULD ASSIGN THIS BOAT TO THE MARINE PATROL, <br />COMMISSIONER LOY ASKED IF THE MARINE PATROL WOULD ACCEPT ALL <br />LIABILITY, AND SHERIFF JOYCE -STATED THAT THEY WOULD AND HE WOULD OBTAIN A <br />LETTER TO THIS EFFECT. <br />ATTORNEY COLLINS STATED THAT THE STATUTES WILL ALLOW THIS AS IT <br />WOULD BE A GIFT TO ANOTHER STATE AGENCY, HE SUGGESTED THAT BOTH THE <br />SHERIFF AND THE BOARD MAKE THE GIFT TO THE MARINE PATROL, <br />SHERIFF .JOYCE NOTED THAT HIS DEPARTMENT HAS THE TITLE TO THE <br />BOAT AND IT IS IN THEIR NAME, <br />ON MOTION BY COMMISSIONER SIEBERT, SECONDED BY COMMISSIONER Loy, <br />THE BOARD UNANIMOUSLY APPROVED THE SHERIFF'S DEPARTMENT TRANSFERRING THE <br />CONFISCATED BOAT TO THE MARINE PATROL. <br />SHERIFF .JOYCE REQUESTED THE BOARD'S APPROVAL OF HIS DEPUTY <br />SHERIFF'S BLANKET SURETY BOND. <br />ATTORNEY COLLINS NOTED THAT THE STATUTE IS CLEAR THAT IT IS UP <br />TO THE SHERIFF TO MAKE THE DECISION AS TO WHO IS COVERED ON THIS BOND, AND <br />THE BOARD'S FUNCTION IS SIMPLY TO APPROVE THE BOND. <br />ON MOTION BY COMMISSIONER SIEBERT, SECONDED BY COMMISSIONER <br />SCHMUCKER, THE BOARD UNANIMOUSLY APPROVED THE DEPUTY SHERIFF'S BLANKET <br />SURETY BOND. <br />R <br />. <br />JAN 9 1,977 <br />
