G <br />INTERGOVERNMENTAL COORDINATOR THOMAS REPORTED THAT HE HAS MET <br />WITH ADMINISTRATOR .JENNINGS TO DISCUSS THE EXPENDITURE OF FUNDS RECEIVED <br />UNDER THE PUBLIC WORKS PROGRAM, TITLE II, IN THE AMOUNT OF $128,267, AND <br />THE ADMINISTRATOR FEELS HE WILL BE ABLE TO USE SEVERAL CREWS IN HIS PARKS <br />AND ROADS AND BRIDGES DEPARTMENT, MR, THOMAS INFORMED THE BOARD THAT THIS <br />i <br />MONEY HAS TO BE USED FOR THE EMPLOYMENT OF PEOPLE AND "MUST BE USED TO <br />MAINTAIN BASIC SERVICES CUSTOMARILY -PROVIDED, It HE FURTHER NOTED THAT THIS <br />i <br />AMOUNT WOULD BE ROUGHLY ENOUGH TO EMPLOY 12 PEOPLE TWO YEr',:S AND ALSO THAT <br />THERE IS A SIX-MONTH DEADLINE DATING FROM LAST NOVEMBER 21ST, <br />ON MOTION BY COMMISSIONER SIEBERT, SECONDED BY COMMISSIONER <br />SCHMUCKER, THE BOARD UNANIMOUSLY AUTHORIZED THE ROADS AND BRIDGES DEPART- <br />MENT TO USE THE PUBLIC WORKS PROGRAM, TITLE II, FUNDS IN THE AMOUNT OF <br />$128,267 FOR MAINTENANCE OF ROADS, BRIDGES AND PARKS, AND TO HIRE THE <br />NECESSARY LABOR FOR THESE PURPOSES, <br />THE CHAIRMAN ANNOUNCED THAT ITEM 4 IN REGARD TO FINAL APPROVAL OF <br />FOREST PARK SUBDIVISION (VISTA ROYALE) HAS BEEN WITHDRAWN FROM TODAY'S <br />AGENDA, <br />DMINISTRATOR JENNINGS DISCUSSED I CUSSED WITH THE BOARD THE REQUEST OF <br />HARVEY AND MILDRED BEHRENDT FOR ABANDONMENT OF THE ROADWAY OF A SMALL PARK <br />ADJACENT TO LOT 17, BLOCK A, UNIT 3, INDIAN RIVER HEIGHTS SUBDIVISION, <br />HE NOTED THAT THIS MATTER CAME UP SOME YEARS AGO, BUT AT THAT TIME THE <br />BOARD WAS CONSIDERING SEWER AND WATER IN THE AREA AND DID <br />NOT GO ALONG WITH <br />THE REQUEST. THE ADMINISTRATOR EXPLAINED THAT THE APPLICANTS WISH TO <br />ABANDON THE CURVED PART OF THE ROADWAY AND INSTEAD BRING THE ROAD STRAIGHT <br />TO THE INTERSECTION AT A 900 ANGLE, AND HE FELT, AS FAR AS DRIVING SAFETY <br />IS CONCERNED, IT WOULD BE BETTER IF THE CURVE WERE ELIMINATED, <br />i <br />COMMISSIONER SIEBERT POINTED OUT THAT SUCH AN. ABANDONMENT WILL <br />GREATLY INCREASE THE SIZE OF THE APPLICANT IS PROPERTY, AND HE FELT THE <br />LAND IS WORTH SOME MONEY,AND POSSIBLY THE COUNTY SHOULD INFORM THE APPLI- <br />CANT, THEY WILL ENTERTAIN AN OFFER TO BUY IT. <br />DISCUSSION FOLLOWED, AND THE ATTORNEY STATED THAT IN AN ABANDON- <br />MENT HALF OF THE PROPERTY GOES TO THE OWNER ON EACH SIDE, AND IN THIS CASE <br />WHERE THE PROPERTY ABUTS A ROAD, HE FELT HALF WOULD GO TO THE APPLICANT' <br />AND THE OTHER HALF TO THE COUNTY BUT HE WOULD HAVE TO CHECK THE DEDICATION <br />TO BE SURE. <br />F <br />11 <br />FEB' 91977 <br />
