'R <br /> RESOLUTION 2005 - 014 <br /> IN SUPPORT OF AN 1-95/OSLO ROAD INTERCHANGE <br /> A RESOLUTION BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY <br /> COMMISSIONERS OF INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, FLORIDA; <br /> SUPPORTING THE CONSTRUCTION OF A NEW <br /> INTERCHANGE ON, INTERSTATE 95 TO BE LOCATED AT <br /> OSLO ROAD IN INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, <br /> WHEREAS, for the past 6 years, the Board of County Commissioners of Indian <br /> River County and the citizens of Indian River County have recognized the need for an <br /> interchange at 1-95 and Oslo Road in Indian River County, and <br /> WHEREAS, the proposed interchange at 1=95 and Oslo Road in Indian River <br /> County was turned down by the Florida Department of Transportation in 2000; and <br /> WHEREAS, the southwest portion of Indian River County is experiencing a growth <br /> in new residential development; and <br /> WHEREAS, the 2004 hurricane season that affected the State of Florida has <br /> highlighted the need for additional emergency evacuation routes for citizens of Indian <br /> River County; and <br /> WHEREAS, the 1-95 and Oslo Road area is designated by the Board of County <br /> Commissioners of Indian River County as an industry node; and <br /> WHEREAS, an interchange at 1-95 and Oslo Road in Indian River County is needed <br /> for future industry infrastructure needs; <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY <br /> COMMISSIONERS OF INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, FLORIDA, that: <br /> 1. The Board of County Commissioners supports the proposed interchange at <br /> Oslo Road and 1-95 as a priority for the citizens of Indian River County. <br /> 2. The Clerk to the Board of County Commissioners is hereby directed to send a <br /> copy of this Resolution to Jose Abreu, P.E., Secretary of the Florida Department of <br /> Transportation; to the District Secretary of District 4, Florida Department of Transportation; <br /> and to the members of the Legislative Delegation representing Indian River County. <br /> 1 <br />
