RESOLUTION NO, 77,34 <br />WHEREAS, the State of Florida has established a Regional <br />Planning District'(hereinafter referred to as the Region), composed <br />of Indian River, St. Lucie, Martin and Palm Beach Counties, pursuant <br />to Chapter 23 Florida Statutes; and <br />WHEREAS,,the Region presently is the fifth largest planning <br />district in the State; and <br />WHEREAS, the Counties of Indian River, St, Lucie, Martin and <br />Palm Beach have joined together to establish the Treasure Coast Re- <br />gional Planning Council (hereinafter referred to as the Council), <br />pursuant to Chapter 163.01 Florida Statutes, to serve the Region; and <br />WHEREAS, the State of Florida has recognized and designated the <br />Council as the Regional Planning Agency pursuant to Chapter 380,06 <br />Florida Statutes and Chapter 163.3191, Florida Statutes; and <br />WHE^.EAS, the Council has responsibilities to perform certain <br />planning activities vu,:suant to its designation as a Regional P1�Pning <br />Agency; and <br />WHEREAS; the State of Florida has provided funding to designated <br />Regional Planning Agencies for the past five fiscal years from the <br />General Fund; and ° <br />WHEREAS, the Governor has recommended funding for Regional Planning <br />Agencies, including the Council, for fiscal year .1977-78; and <br />WHEREAS, the Florida House of Representatives Appropriation <br />Sub -committee "2" has indicated that all Regional Planning Agencies, <br />with the sole exception of the Council, should receive funding for fiscal <br />year 1977-78 from the General Fund; and <br />WHEREAS, the Council has the same responsibilities under State <br />designation as all other Regional Planning Agencies, <br />NOW,THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS <br />OF INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, FLORIDA, that <br />1. The County opposes any action of the Florida House of <br />Representatives Appropriation Sub -committee "2" to delete funding <br />available to the Council to assist in the carrying out of the re-• <br />sponsibilitics under Chapter 380.06, Florida Statutes and Chapter 163,3191 <br />MAR 2 8-1977 , VOTIA---v454 <br />0 <br />
