RESOLUTION NO, 77,34 WHEREAS, the State of Florida has established a Regional Planning District'(hereinafter referred to as the Region), composed of Indian River, St. Lucie, Martin and Palm Beach Counties, pursuant to Chapter 23 Florida Statutes; and WHEREAS,,the Region presently is the fifth largest planning district in the State; and WHEREAS, the Counties of Indian River, St, Lucie, Martin and Palm Beach have joined together to establish the Treasure Coast Re- gional Planning Council (hereinafter referred to as the Council), pursuant to Chapter 163.01 Florida Statutes, to serve the Region; and WHEREAS, the State of Florida has recognized and designated the Council as the Regional Planning Agency pursuant to Chapter 380,06 Florida Statutes and Chapter 163.3191, Florida Statutes; and WHE^.EAS, the Council has responsibilities to perform certain planning activities vu,:suant to its designation as a Regional P1�Pning Agency; and WHEREAS; the State of Florida has provided funding to designated Regional Planning Agencies for the past five fiscal years from the General Fund; and ° WHEREAS, the Governor has recommended funding for Regional Planning Agencies, including the Council, for fiscal year .1977-78; and WHEREAS, the Florida House of Representatives Appropriation Sub -committee "2" has indicated that all Regional Planning Agencies, with the sole exception of the Council, should receive funding for fiscal year 1977-78 from the General Fund; and WHEREAS, the Council has the same responsibilities under State designation as all other Regional Planning Agencies, NOW,THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, FLORIDA, that 1. The County opposes any action of the Florida House of Representatives Appropriation Sub -committee "2" to delete funding available to the Council to assist in the carrying out of the re-• sponsibilitics under Chapter 380.06, Florida Statutes and Chapter 163,3191 MAR 2 8-1977 , VOTIA---v454 0
