MUTUAL AID PACT BLTVIEEN THE SEVERAL COUNTIES AND/OR MUNICIPALITIES <br />IN THE C-? DISTRICT OF THE CEUTRAL FLORIDA CIVIL DEFENSE AREA. <br />WHEREAS, Public Law 93--288, known as the Disaster Relief Act of <br />iS7A_and its amendments, and Florida State Law 252, the State Disaster <br />Preparedness Act of 1974, fixes federal, state and local government <br />responsibilities for Civil Defense, and <br />9 <br />WHEREAS, we, the participants in this agreement do recognize <br />that there are many emergency situations possible in which our local <br />resources alone may not always be adequate to maintain life and pro- <br />perty losses at minimal levels, and <br />WHEREAS, we further recognize that, jointly and severally, there <br />are enough resources located within the several counties and/or -mun- <br />icipalities named herein to cope with any disaster possible, save <br />possibly a nuclear war, -and even in that dire event, to enhance our <br />chances of survival. <br />We the undersigned, as the duly elected and appointed officials <br />of the nnlitir4l Jurisdictions named herein, do heraby and herewith <br />agree to the following concepts and conditions which may cause one or <br />more of us to call for mutual aid, and may cause one or more of us to <br />lend such aid, do herein agree that: <br />1. Upon request of the•duly constituted authority (ies) of any <br />one or more of -,the several partners to this agreement, the agency re- <br />ceiving such request for assistance will proceed by the most expeditious <br />means possible to render the necessary assistance, with these exceptions: <br />that by rendering such aid, the agency rendering such assistance does not <br />so tax their own resources they could not adequately respond to emergency <br />situations within their own political boundaries, and} provided there are <br />no other provisions of thys pact violated. <br />2. Such assistance provided herein will be done at the expense of. <br />the assisting agency, except that: whenever a disaster area.is declared <br />by the President of the United States and/or the Governor of the State <br />I. <br />of Florida, and the area thus made eligible for relief funds, the <br />MAY 4 1977 <br />
