DONLON EXPLAINED THAT THE BLUE CROSS -BLUE SHIELD BID WAS <br />BASED ON THEIR ACTUAL BILLING FOR THE MONTH OF APRIL, AND THERE ARE ELI- <br />GIBLE EMPLOYEES NOW THAT WERE NOT INCLUDED IN THEIR PLAN SO HE REFIGURED <br />THEIR BID ON A BASIS OF 136 EMPLOYEES AND 98 DEPENDENTS TO MAKE IT COM- <br />PARABLE WITH ALL THE OTHER BIDS, <br />CHAIRMAN WODTKE ASKED ABOUT MATERNITY BENEFITS UNDER THE <br />BLUE CROSS -BLUE SHIELD PLAN. <br />DELIVERY.. <br />MR. DONLON STATED THEY ALLOW A MAXIMUM OF $163.00 FOR A NORMAL <br />CHAIRMAN WODTKE DISCUSSED POSSIBLY INCREASING BENEFITS:FOR THE <br />DAILY ROOM RATES AND DROPPING MATERNITY BENEFITS, BUT NOTED IF THE MATER- <br />NITY BENEFITS WERE REMOVED IT WOULD BE ONLY 96� LESS PER EMPLOYEE, <br />ED BROWN, AGENT FOR BLUE CROSS -BLUE SHIELD, EXPLAINED THAT <br />THE 9R REDUCTION IS DICTATED BY RATE EXPERIENCE, AND THERE HAS BEEN VERY <br />LITTLE USAGE OF THIS PARTICULAR BENEFIT. HE POINTED. OUT THAT MAJOR MEDI- <br />CAL WOULD PICK UP THE DIFFERENCE ON A CAESARIAN. MR, BROWN PRESENTED THE <br />BOARD WITH A LIST OF ALTERNATES IN REGARD TO UPGRADING THE PRESENT GROUP <br />INSURANCE PROGRAM, AND RECOMMENDED INCREASING THE DAILY ROOM AND BOARD <br />ALLOWANCE FROM $55.00 TO $65.00 PER DAY AND THE GROUP TERM LIFE INSURANCE <br />FROM $2,000 TO $5,000. <br />IN FURTHER DISCUSSION, THE BOARD EXPRESSED CONCERN ABOUT CON- <br />SIDERING SOMETHING DIFFERENT THAN WAS BID. <br />CHAIRMAN WODTKE NOTED THAT WE HAVE ANOTHER MEETING BEFORE OUR <br />INSURANCE EXPIRES AND POSSIBLY WE SHOULD HAVE SOME FURTHER STUDY, <br />COMMISSIONER.LOY SAID SHE SAW NO REASON TO DELAY ANY FURTHER AND <br />RATHER THAN GET DOWN TO THE DEADLINE, FELT WE SHOULD ACCEPT THE LOW BID. <br />COMMISSIONER SIEBERT STATED THAT HE FELT IF WE ARE GOING TO <br />ACCEPT THE LOW BID, IT SHOULD BE.ACCEPTED AS IS AND INCREASING THE BENEFITS <br />CAN BE CONSIDERED NEXT YEAR, <br />MOTION WAS MADE BY COMMISSIONER Loy, SECONDED BY COMMISSIONER <br />SCHMUCKER, TO AWARD THE GROUP INSURANCE CONTRACT TO BLUE CROSS -BLUE SHIELD <br />BASED ON THE BID OF $90,574.56 TO COVER 136 EMPLOYEES AND 98 DEPENDENTS. <br />14 <br />MAY 181977 <br />ccs ' <br />
