RESOLUTION 2011=009 <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY <br />COMMISSIONERS OF INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, <br />FLORIDA, TEMPORARILY EXTENDING THE TERMS <br />OF CERTAIN MEMBERS OF VARIOUS <br />COMMITTEES, BOARDS AND COUNCILS. <br />WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners has determined that <br />uncertainty exists with respect to the terms of office of some Board appointed members <br />of various County committees, boards and councils (collectively "committees") and that <br />the terms of office of some members may be out of sync with code or statutory <br />language setting the terms; and <br />WHEREAS, the uncertainty arises primarily from the following (1) the code <br />provision which generally governs terms of office — section 103.02 — contains an internal <br />inconsistency which needs to be corrected, and (2) once appointed, members have <br />sometimes served for many years, without formal periodic reappointments; and <br />WHEREAS, in order to provide sufficient time to implement a permanent solution <br />to the matter, it is appropriate temporarily to extend the terms of currently sitting, Board <br />appointed members of such committees as set forth herein. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY <br />COMMISSIONERS OF INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, FLORIDA, THAT: <br />1. To the extent that the term of office of any currently sitting, Board appointed member <br />of a committee has technically expired prior to the effective date of this resolution, or <br />would otherwise expire during the effective period of this resolution, such term is hereby <br />extended until further action of the Board, either generally with respect to all such <br />committee members or specifically with respect to one or more specific committee <br />members. This action shall apply to all currently sitting, Board appointed members of <br />the committees listed on Exhibit A attached hereto. <br />2. This resolution shall become effective upon adoption by the Board, and shall remain <br />in effect until terminated by further Board action. <br />The resolution was moved for adoption by Commissioner Wheeler , and the <br />motion was seconded by Commissioner Flescher and, upon being put to a vote, <br />the vote was as follows: <br />Chairman Bob Solari Aye <br />Vice Chairman Gary C.
