RESOLUTION NO. 2012- 054 <br /> A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY <br /> COMMISSIONERS OF INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, <br /> FLORIDA, PROVIDING REPRESENTATION FOR A <br /> REPRESENTATIVE FROM INDIAN RIVER STATE <br /> COLLEGE TO SERVE ON THE ECONOMIC <br /> DEVELOPMENT COUNCIL. <br /> WHEREAS, by Resolution 93-175, the Board of County Commissioners of Indian <br /> River County, Florida, created an Economic Development Council; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Board restructured the Economic Development Council by <br /> approving Resolution 2003-127, creating the existing Council of 19 members; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Board added three additional members to the Economic <br /> Development Council to provide representation for the Town of Indian River Shores, <br /> the Town of Orchid and the Work Force Development Board by approving Resolution <br /> 2008-003, creating the existing Council of 22 members; and <br /> WHEREAS, Indian River State College continues to expand its role in the County <br /> by adding additional 4-year bachelor's degree programs and thereby is increasingly <br /> becoming an important source of education and information to the local economy; and <br /> WHEREAS, it is the will of the Board of County Commissioners to provide for a <br /> representative from the Indian River State College to serve on the Economic <br /> Development Council in place of the member of civic organizations; <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF <br /> COMMISSIONERS OF INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, FLORIDA, that: <br /> 1. ESTABLISHMENT. <br /> A representative from Indian River State College is hereby added to the Economic <br /> Development Council to provide representation from the area's post secondary <br /> education system which will replace the member from civic organization. <br /> 2. RESIDENCY IN INDIAN RIVER COUNTY NOT MANDATORY. <br /> Since Indian River State College has campuses in four counties on the Treasure <br /> Coast, its representative need not be a resident of Indian River County. <br /> 3.
