CHAIRMAN WODTKE NOTED THAT THE 1,250 GALLON PUMPER IS A PIECE <br />OF EQUIPMENT THAT WILL BECOME THE COUNTY'S IF WE GET INTO A COUNTYWIDE <br />FIRE SYSTEM. HE ALSO NOTED THAT THIS IS AN EXTENSIVE LIST WHICH HE <br />FELT WOULD BE NEEDED ONLY TO PUT THE TRUCK TO ITS MAXIMUM USE. <br />COMMISSIONER SCHMUCKER AGREED, NOTING THAT THEY HAVE ASKED <br />FOR 2,000 FEET OF HOSE. HE POINTED OUT, HOWEVER, THAT YOU CAN'T USE <br />THE TRUCK WITHOUT EQUIPMENT. <br />COMMISSIONER SIEBERT ASKED HOW MANY FIREMEN THE TOWN OF <br />INDIAN RIVER SHORES HAS, AND JAMES YOUNG, FINANCE DIRECTOR OF THE TOWN <br />OF INDIAN RIVER SHORES, STATED THAT THEY HAVE SEVEN AND ONE CETA EM— <br />PLOYEE. TWO ARE ON DUTY AT A TIME. <br />COMMISSIONER LOY ASKED WHAT THE TOWN OF INDIAN RIVER SHORES <br />IS PUTTING UP FOR THIS EQUIPMENT. <br />MR. YOUNG ANSWERED THAT THEY HAVE A CONTINGENCY FUND, BUT <br />NO SPECIFIC AMOUNT HAS BEEN DESIGNATED FOR THIS PURPOSE. HE INFORMED <br />THE BOARD THAT THEY SPENT ABOUT $9,000 EQUIPPING THE FIRST PUMPER. HE <br />FURTHER STATED THAT WHILE THEY DO NOT HAVE A LARGE ORGANIZATION OF PAID <br />FIREMEN, AN ORGANIZATION OF VOLUNTEERS IS IN PROCESS TO SUPPLEMENT THE <br />EGULAR FIREMEN; THUS IF TWO UNITS SHOULD BE NEEDED, IT WILL BE POSSIBLE <br />0 MAN THEM, MR, YOUNG POINTED OUT THAT THEY HAVE INDICATED WHICH OF <br />HE ITEMS ON THIS LIST ARE THE MOST IMPORTANT, AND THESE ADD UP TO <br />6,110.00, <br />COMMISSIONER SIEBERT FELT EQUIPPING THIS TRUCK WOULD BE A <br />ANGEROUS PRECEDENT FOR THE COUNTY TO SET. <br />MR. YOUNG POINTED OUT THAT THE TOWN HAS FINANCIAL PROBLEMS <br />HIS YEAR THAT WILL NOT BE REPEATED NEXT YEAR. <br />CHAIRMAN WODTKE INQUIRED HOW THE 1,250 GALLON PUMPER IS TITLED, <br />ND MR. -YOUNG STATED THAT IT IS REGISTERED TO THE TOWN, WHICH IS NECES— <br />ARY FOR INSURANCE PURPOSES. <br />CHAIRMAN WODTKE DISCUSSED PURCHASING THE EQUIPMENT ON A <br />TCHING BASIS WITH THE TOWN, <br />MR. YOUNG STATED THAT THE TOWN WOULD BE HARD PRESSED TO FIND <br />AORE THAN $2,000 TO $3,000 AT THE VERY MOST AS THEY HAVE A TIGHT BUDGET <br />THIS YEAR AND NOTED THAT IT TAKES TIME TO RAISE MONEY THROUGH CONTRIBU— <br />TIONS. <br />46 <br />BOOK 31 PAGF 448 <br />w <br />�i <br />
