WRIGHT STATED THAT THE COMMUNITY COLLEGE WILL AND HAVE
ALREADY APPROPRIATED $5,000 TOWARDS THIS PURPOSE. HE NOTED THAT BASI-
CALLY ALL THEY ARE ASKING FOR IS DIRT FORA 15' BERM ABOUT 120' LONG.
COMMISSIONER SCHMUCKER ESTIMATED THAT THIS WOULD REQUIRE
ABOUT 3,000 TO 4,000 YARDS OF DIRT.
ALEX SMITH OF THE NATIONAL RIFLE ASSOCIATION SUGGESTED THAT
THIS BACKSTOP WOULD BE A GOOD PLACE TO DISPOSE OF OLD TIRES WHICH TEND
TO HOLD THE DIRT IN PLACE.
ADMINISTRATOR .JENNINGS NOTED THAT THE FIRST THING NECESSARY
TO DETERMINE IS THE AMOUNT OF DIRT NEEDED AND FELT WE SHOULD BE SUP-
PLIED WITH A CONSTRUCTION PLAN, ESPECIALLY WITH REGARD TO PLACEMENT
OF ANY TIRES, HE STATED HE IS CONCERNED ABOUT WHERE THE RANGE WILL
BE PLACED AND WHO WILL BE RESPONSIBLE AS THERE IS A HIGHWAY ON ONE
SIDE AND THE LANDFILL ON THE OTHER.
MR. WRIGHT STATED THAT THE RANGE WILL BE ON STATE PROPERTY,
AND THEY WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR SUPERVISION AND INSURANCE.
IN FURTHER DISCUSSION, THE BOARD AGREED THAT THEY WOULD BE
RECEPTIVE TO COOPERATING WITH THIS PROJECT, BUT WOULD FIRST LIKE TO
SEE A PLAN.
THE BOARD NEXT DISCUSSED THE MATTER OF APPROVING THE ADMIS-
:SION OF SHAWNA LANCASTER TO THE FLORIDA SCHOOL FOR THE DEAF AND THE
BLIND.
COMMISSIONER LOY NOTED THAT IN THE PAST THIS WAS AN AUTO-
MATIC PROCEDURE, BUT NOW IT MUST BE CERTIFIED THAT THE APPLICANT IS A
RESIDENT OF THE COUNTY, AND A LETTER HAS BEEN RECEIVED FROM TED ARENDAS
CERTIFYING THAT SHE IS A RESIDENT,
ON MOTION BY COMMISSIONER SIEBERT, SECONDED BY COMMISSIONER
10
r
it
