a <br />COMMISSIONER LOY FELT THE BOARD RECOGNIZES THE TREMENDOUS <br />BENEFIT OF SUCH AN ORDINANCE RELATING TO NEW STRUCTURES, BUT NOTED THAT <br />WE ALWAYS HAVE A CONCERN FOR EXISTING SITUATIONS, SHE STATED THAT AS <br />SHE READS IT, THE EXISTING SITUATIONS WILL NOT BE FORCED TO COMPLY <br />UNLESS THE FIRE DEPARTMENT FEELS THERE IS A DISTINCT HAZARD TO LIFE <br />AND PROPERTY. ' <br />CHIEF SMITH STATED THAT'IF THERE IS A FLAGRANT VIOLATION OF <br />THE CODE IN AN EXISTING BUILDING, HE FELT THEY SHOULD BE REQUIRED TO <br />CORRECT IT. LIEUTENANT HUNT AGREED THAT YOU CANT GO OUT AND REBUILD <br />STRUCTURES, AND EXPLAINED THAT THEIR AIM IS TO MAKE THE EXISTING STRUC- <br />TURES AS SAFE AS POSSIBLE AS ECONOMICALLY AS POSSIBLE. <br />COMMISSIONER SCHMUCKER FELT SOMETHING ABOUT THE EXISTING <br />STRUCTURES SHOULD BE MADE A PART OF THE ORDINA WE. <br />ATTORNEY COLLINS AGREED THAT THERE ARE SOME PROBLEMS IN THIS <br />AREA AND SUGGESTED THAT THE BOARD REFER THIS MATTER TO THE ADMINISTRA- <br />TOR'S OFFICE FOR A REVIEW OF THE CODE SO THAT ITS IMPLICATIONS CAN BE <br />DISCUSSED AT THE NEXT MEETING AND THEN A PUBLIC HEARING AUTHORIZED <br />AFTER THAT. THE BOARD HAD NO OBJECTIONS. <br />ADMINISTRATOR .JENNINGS REPORTED TO THE BOARD THAT PROPERTY <br />OWNERS ON 48TH AVENUE IN GLENDALE LAKES SUBDIVISION HAVE REQUESTED THAT <br />THE COUNTY PAVE 48TH AVENUE FROM LOTH STREET TO THE END OF LOT 10 ON <br />THE WEST SIDE OF THE STREET UNDER THE COUNTY ROAD PARTICIPATION PROGRAM. <br />HE NOTED THAT IF WE CAN PAVE THIS ONE PORTION OF THE SUBDIVISION PERHAPS <br />OTHERS IN THE DEVELOPMENT WILL WANT TO PARTICIPATE ALSO. THE ADMINISTRA- <br />TOR NOTED THAT WITH THE DRAINAGE PROBLEMS IN THIS AREA, IT WOULD BE <br />DESIRABLE TO HAVE ALL OF THE SUBDIVISION PAVED. HE INFORMED THE <br />BOARD THAT HE WILL COME UP WITH A TOTAL ESTIMATED COST WHICH WILL BE <br />DIVIDED BY THE TOTAL AMOUNT OF FRONT FOOTAGE OF THE PROPERTY OWNERS AND <br />APPORTIONED ACCORDINGLY. HE NOTED THAT THEIR SHARE OF THE MONEY IS TO <br />BE PUT UP IN ESCROW BEFORE THE COUNTY DOES THE WORK. HE NOTED THAT -THE <br />PROPERTY OWNERS WILL PICK UP THE COST OF PAVING THE INTERSECTION AND <br />HAVE AGREED TO PICK UP THE COST FOR ONE OWNER WHO -DOES NOT WISH TO <br />PARTICIPATE. <br />.THE BOARD AGREED THAT THE PROGRAM WAS SET UP FOR THIS PURPOSE. <br />60 <br />o <br />APR 51�7� Bou34 pact :. <br />
