Florida 32960 <br />April 20, 1978 <br />Mr. Harmon Shields <br />Executive Director <br />Department of Natural Resources <br />Crown Building, 202 Blount Street <br />Tallahassee, Florida 32304 <br />Re: Indian River Trails Land Trust/Florida Land Company <br />Application for Release of Murphy Deed Mineral <br />Reservations for Land Located in Section 9, 10, <br />15, and 16, Township 32 South, Range 39 East, <br />Indian River County, Florida dated March 13, 1978 <br />Dear Mr. Shields: <br />As the Chairman of the Board of County Commissioners of <br />Indian River County, Florida, I would like to take this op- <br />portunity to give you some history on the Indian River Trails <br />development project which is the subject of the above refer- <br />enced application. The project encompasses approximately 580 <br />i Indian River Count Florida, <br />which <br />acres o <br />f land located n Y: <br />'is presently being used as pasture land. The plans which have <br />been presented to the Board over the past four years have in- <br />dicated, when completed, a 180 -acre championship golf course <br />and approximately 400 acres of multi -family and single-family <br />-residential homesites, <br />The Indian River County Board of County Commissioners has <br />been familiar with this project since the spring and summer of <br />1974 at which time a public hearing was held in connection with <br />the rezoning of the lands within this proposed project. The <br />public hearing included the development of regional impact and <br />the zoning to R -2A and R -2B which are multi -family zoning and <br />grants densities from 4 to 8 residential units per acre, The . <br />• above developers have presented a site plan to the Indian River <br />County Planning and Zoning Commission for the construction of <br />the 180 -acre championship golf course.
