L <br />D 1. We would like to ask the County Commission's approval to advertise for <br />bids for the renovation of the Gifford U.D.U. water system. It is our <br />hope tb get out the bids sometime during the week of May 15, 1978, with <br />the proposals to be returned for opening early in June 1978. <br />2. We would like to ask the County's permission to advertise for bids for <br />the installation of the exploratory wells; test well, and three obser- <br />vation wells to be.installed at Hobart Park. The specifications for <br />this work are complete with the exception of the general conditions and <br />itis our intention, with the County's approval, to advertise for this <br />work during the week of May 15, 1978. 11 <br />HE NOTED THAT :ERAGHTY MILLER HAVE INDICATED THAT THEY <br />DO NOT KNOW ENOUGH ABOUT THE GROUND STRATA IN THE HOBART AREA TO <br />.GO INTO TRYING TO OBTAIN A PERMIT FROM THE DER FOR A PERMANENT <br />WELL AT THIS POINT, BUT CONTINUED THAT IF THE EXPLORATORY DRILLING <br />INDICATES THAT THIS IS A GOOD LOCATION, WE COULD USE THE TEST WELL <br />FOR A PERMANENT WELL. HE FELT, IN ANY EVENT, WE SHOULD GO AHEAD <br />AND GET BIDS. <br />ON MOTION BY COMMISSIONER SCHMUCKER, SECONDED BY COMMISSIONER <br />SIEBERT, THE BOARD UNANIMOUSLY AUTHORIZED ENGINEER BEINDORF TO <br />ADVERTISE FOR BIDS FOR RENOVATION OF THE GIFFORD MATER SYSTEM AND <br />FOR INSTALLATION OF EXPLORATORY WELLS, A TEST WELL AND THREE <br />OBSERVATION WELLS_AT HOBART PARK. <br />ON MOTION BY COMMISSIONER SIEBERT, SECONDED BY COMMISSIONER <br />Loy, THE BOARD UNANIMOUSLY ADDED TO TODAY'S AGENDA AN EMERGENCY <br />ITEM IN REGARD TO WATER SERVICE FOR THE ENTIRE COUNTY, <br />COMMISSIONER SIEBERT STATED THAT WE NEED TO START LOOKING NOT <br />ONLY IN THE NORTH OF THE COUNTY FOR SOURCES OF WATER, BUT ALSO IN <br />THE SOUTH, HE FELT THAT WE MUST GEAR UP RIGHT NOW WITH THE IDEA <br />THAT WE WILL BE IN THE MATER BUSINESS AND THE MAIN SUPPLIER OF WATER <br />FOR THE COUNTY AND THAT WE NEED TO GET PROPOSALS AND LOOK INTO <br />LOCATIONS FOR WATER TREATMENT FACILITIES, MAKE PROJECTIONS OF AMOUNTS <br />OF WATER THAT WILL BE NEEDED, ETC, <br />THE BOARD AGREED THAT WE HAVE NO CHOICE, AND CHAIRMAN WODTKE <br />NOTED THAT WE HAVE A PRETTY GOOD BASIS TO WORK FROM WITH THE 1973 <br />WATER REPORT, <br />ENGINEER BEINDORF AGREED AND STATED HE FELT THAT IT WOULD BE <br />A GOOD IDEA TO "TOUCH BASE' ON THIS WITH THE ST. .JOHN'S WATER <br />MANAGEMENT DISTRICT AND THE DER, LET THEM KNOW WHAT WE ARE PLANNING, <br />AND DETERMINE WHAT WE CAN DO. HE STATED THAT HE WILL START <br />74 <br />BOOK 34 PAOF.510 <br />8 <br />
