SECRETARY <br />INFORMATION BULLETIN <br />DIVISION OF <br />DISASTER PREPAREDNESS <br />November 26, 1975 75-10 P&O <br />LOCAL STANDING OPERATING PROCEDURE FOR <br />REPORTING CIVIL DEFENSE E14ERGENCIES <br />This Bulletin establishes a requirement for the preparation <br />and submission of a SOP, "Natural Disaster Reporting," by each County <br />• Civil Defense organization in Florida. It is essential that every <br />local capability for noting and reporting disaster situations on a <br />24-hour basis be enlisted. <br />The importance of notifying this Division promptly of any actual <br />or threatened civil defense emergency -cannot be over -emphasized. A <br />civil defense emergency exists when life and property are threatened <br />and the situation requires coordinated action by more than one <br />J government agency, state or local. For example: Actual or threat of <br />flood which may require evacuation and opening of shelter; tornado <br />•possibly„requiring evacuation, shelter and above -norma, law enforce- <br />ment or military support; prolonged heavy rain rendering flooding and <br />possible evacuation likely; etc. <br />It is essential that this Division receive and pass on such <br />reports immediately and accurately to the Governor and concerned state <br />agencies in order that any aid required may be offered promptly. <br />REPORTS SHOULD BE MADE REGARDLESS OF WHETHER THE SITUATION CAN BE <br />HANDLED LOCALLY. <br />Reports should be submitted by the most expeditious means . <br />available. STATE WARNING POINT TALLAHASSEE can be contacted directly <br />through NAWAS, RACES Radio or -telephone (904-488-1320), or through <br />Area offices during normal working hours. After working hours and on <br />holidays the State Civil Defense staff can be alerted through the <br />STATE WARNING POINT TALLAHASSEE, through NAWAS or telephone 904-488- <br />1320. <br />Tha•SOP required by this Bulletin is enclosed herewith in blank <br />form.
