M
a
CHAIRMAN WODTKE NOTED THAT THE RENOVATIONS DONE AT THE COUNTY
JAIL EXCEEDED BY $954.00 THE AMOUNT AUTHORIZED FOR THIS PURPOSE,
WHICH IS APPROXIMATELY A 20% OVERRUN.
ADMINISTRATOR JENNINGS AGREED THAT THIS SHOULD NOT HAVE
HAPPENED, BUT NOTED THAT WHEN YOU GET IN AN OLD BUILDING AND START
TEARING THINGS APART, YOU GET INTO EXPENSES THAT ARE NOT ANTICIPATED.
CHAIRMAN WODTKE POINTED OUT THAT WHEN THE BOARD AUTHORIZES
A CERTAIN AMOUNT FOR A SPECIFIC JOB, THE DEPARTMENT INVOLVED SHOULD
REALIZE THAT IF IT IS GOING TO COST MORE THAN AUTHORIZED, THEY SHOULD
COME BACK TO THE BOARD.
ADMINISTRATOR JENNINGS STATED THAT HE PERSONALLY WOULD TRY
TO SET UP A BETTER COMMUNICATIONS SYSTEM SO THAT THIS SITUATION DOES
NOT RE -OCCUR.
ON MOTION BY COMMISSIONER Loy, SECONDED BY COMMISSIONER
DEESON, THE BOARD UNANIMOUSLY APPROVED THE FOLLOWING BUDGET AMENDMENT:
ACCOUNT TITLE ACCOUNT No. INCREASE DECREASE
COUNTY JAIL - BUILDING
AND STRUCTURES 62-3322-401 $4,829.00
RESERVE FOR CONTINGENCIES 62-9990-701 $4,829.00
THE BOARD NEXT DISCUSSED A BUDGET AMENDMENT FOR AN ALARM
SYSTEM AT THE COUNTY GARAGE, AND ADMINISTRATOR JENNINGS INFORMED THEM
THAT THIS HAS BEEN NEEDED FOR A LONG TIME.,AND HE FEELS IT WOULD BE
MONEY WELL SPENT AS THEY HAVE A PROBLEM WITH CONSTANT LOSSES OCCURING
FROM VANDALS WHO DIG UNDER THE CHAIN LINK FENCE.
d.
COMMISSIONER SIEBERT ASKED IF COMPETITIVE PROPOSALS HAD BEEN
OBTAINED.
ADMINISTRATOR JENNINGS STATED THAT THEY HAD INVESTIGATED
SEVERAL SYSTEMS, AND THE PROPOSAL FROM INDIAN RIVER SECURITY IS THE
• LOWEST.
COMMISSIONER SIEBERT NOTED THAT THIS WOULD CONSTITUTE A
CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT AND HE SUGGESTED THAT IT BE PAID FOR OUT OF
REVENUE SHARING RATHER THAN TAKEN OUT OF THE ROAD & BRIDGE CONTINGENCY
ACCOUNT. THE BOARD AGREED.
ON MOTION BY•COMMISSIONER Loy, SECONDED BY COMMISSIONER
DEESON, THE BOARD UNANIMOUSLY AUTHORIZED PAYING FOR THE ALARM SYSTEM
2
F
Y 101978 ma 34 PacE 3u'u
