provided more information on the local government standards; Kelly Brown from Habitat for <br />Humanity who spoke about establishing a green team and how funds and points are raised in this <br />process; and Himanshu Mehta, Solid Waste Disposal District, who explained how some County <br />departments were already utilizing the "green process" in their daily operations. <br />Other Committee members spoke on behalf and in support of the County becoming <br />"green": Susan Olson of the School District, Nancy Wood of Indian River Green Team, Christine <br />Kelly-Begasso, Indian River County Extension Director, Nancy Offutt, Government Affairs <br />Director for Treasure Coast Builders Association, Judy Orcutt of the Sustainability Committee, <br />Jens Tripson of Pelican Island Audubon Society, David Cox of Periwinkle Lane and a member of <br />the Florida Green Building Coalition. They all urged the Board to approve the resolution. <br />Commissioner Flescher remarked that Schools were not entirely in keeping with a <br />"green" environment. Commissioner O'Bryan thought that was even more reason for us to move <br />forward with the "green" initiative. <br />(Clerk's Note: Item 13.E. 1 was heard immediately following Item 5.B, above and is <br />placed in Agenda order below.
