8. CONSENT AGENDA <br />Commissioner O'Bryan asked to pull for discussion, Items 8.A., 8.I., and 8.K. <br />ON MOTION by Vice Chairman Davis, SECONDED by <br />Commissioner Flescher, the Board unanimously approved <br />the Consent Agenda as amended. <br />8.A. RESOLUTIONSUPPORTING CONSTITUTIONAL AMENDMENT NO. 2 — <br />THE FLORIDA MARRIAGE PROTECTIONAMENDMENT <br />Commissioner O'Bryan stated that he had pulled this item for a separate vote. <br />MOTION WAS MADE by Vice Chairman Davis, <br />SECONDED by Chairman Bowden, for discussion, to <br />approve a Resolution supporting Constitutional <br />Amendment No. 2 - the Florida Marriage Protection <br />Amendment. <br />Commissioner Wheeler was opposed to having this type of Resolution on political <br />questions, which would be voted on a statewide ballot. He believed it was the Board's duty to <br />provide information and not direction. <br />Dr. Craig McGarvey urged the Board, as political leaders, to encourage residents <br />to vote for this Amendment to codify into State law marriage between one man and one woman. <br />4 <br />October 21, 2008 <br />
