V PROCLAMATION WHEREAS, the INDIAN RIVER COUNTY REACT TEAM 3749, INC., has since its formation in March of 1977, provided a valuable service to Indian River County through its monitoring of Citizens Band Emergency Channel 9 on a twenty-four hour basis, and its support for the Vocational Training Center and Shelter Workshop in Indian River County; and - WHEREAS, REACT, since its establishment in 1962, has grown to over 1800 Teams with nearly 200,000 active participants in all 50 States, 10 Canadian Provinces and other countries around the world; and WHEREAS, our local REACT TEAM provides volunteer service in behalf of highway safety, and maintains emergency com- munications in case of disaster; and WHEREAS, on a National level since 1962, REACT TEAMS have handled an estimated 65 million emergency calls, including approximately 15 million highway accidents; and WHEREAS, locally from January 1 through June 30, 1978, TEAM NO. 3749 has monitored Citizens Band Channel 9 for total man hours of 3,025. During such monitoring, TEAM NO. 3749 has given invaluable help to accident victims, boating emergencies, motor problems, and numerous other areas all of which benefit the citizens of Indian River County; and' WHEREAS, the Month of November on the National level, will be designated NATIONAL REACT MONTH; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT PROCLAIMED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, FLORIDA, that the !month of. November, 1978 be designated as INDIAN RIVER COUNTY REACT MONTH and during the month of November all citizens of Indian River County are requested to take notice and be aware of the significant contributions that our INDIAN RIVER COUNTY REACT TEAM NO. 3749 has made to the welfare of our local community and to the nation as a whole.
