s+ <br />p <br />-2- <br />PROPOSAL j <br />Cody & Associates, Inc. of Cocoa Beach, Florida proposes to con- <br />duct a Position Classification and Compensation Plan Study of <br />C1erk,,Sheriff and Board of County Commissioners positions in the <br />service of Indian River County. The study will include the <br />following steps and methodology._ <br />OBJECTIVES AIM GOALS <br />.A. Formulate a Positions Classification and Pay Plan that will <br />assist in reducing turnover costs and promote careers with <br />the County. <br />B. Design a Classification and Pay Plan that will attractguali- <br />fied personnel to render the services that the County provides. <br />C. Establish or maintain equitable relationships of one job <br />to another within the workforce. (Equal nay for equal work.) <br />D. Design a current salary schedule which is competitive with <br />reasonably similar positions in the labor market where the <br />County recruits for employees. <br />E. Maintain or establish normal lines of promotion to and from <br />the various classes of positions in the personnel system. <br />F. Create Class Descriptions which reflect the illustrative <br />duties of ,the general class and establish realistic en- <br />trance requirements. <br />G. Tailor-make a plan which is technically clear, easily under- <br />stood by employees and is aimed at practical implementation <br />and maintenance. <br />H. Make certain that department heads and employees have an <br />opportunity to participate in the survey. <br />WORK EL32TEIITS <br />PFLASE I <br />A. Conduct an assembled introductonr meeting of all depart- <br />ment heads and supervisory personnel to explain the ap- <br />proach and goals of the study. A Position Questionnaire <br />will be distributed and explained at this meeting. <br />B. Submit a Position Questionnaire.to each employee included <br />in the study. , <br />•C. Position Questionnaires will request the employee to explain, <br />i in their own words, their job duties, responsibilities, <br />supervision c;iven and received, physical efforts and other <br />related job information and position factors. <br />NOV 1 1970G .
