PUBLIC WORKS – BEACH RESTORATION EMERGENCY <br />RESPONSE – EMPOWERMENT OF COUNTY <br />ADMINISTRATOR AND WAIVER OF BID PROCESS <br />Bill Glynn <br /> requested the Board to move on this item. <br />Public Works Director James Davis reviewed the memorandum in the backup dated <br />December 17, 2004. He advised that staff was working fast track on this concern. <br />Chairman Lowther wanted to be advised if the change orders were to be a large <br />number that the Commissioners would be notified. <br />County Administrator Baird assured the Board he would bring any large change <br />orders to the Board. He also expressed special appreciation that Representative Stan Mayfield <br />obtained a grant for $10 million for us with only a 10% match. He advised that a contract for <br />dredging would be brought to the Board. <br />ON MOTION by Vice Chairman Neuberger, SECONDED <br />by Commissioner Davis, the Board unanimously approved <br />empowering the County Administrator to sign for the <br />County on needed contracts and change orders, waived the <br />bidding process for additional services related to the <br />emergency permitting, such as dune planting or sea turtle <br />monitoring, that may be needed, and reduced the bid period <br />for the emergency beach restoration contract from 30 to 21 <br />days, all as recommended in the memorandum of <br />December 17, 2004. <br />MISCELLANEOUS WORK ORDERS ARE ON FILE <br />IN THE OFFICE OF THE CLERK TO THE BOARD* <br />(CLERK’S NOTE: The above item was heard out of order and just before the recess <br />at 11:44 a.m. The meeting was reconvened at 1:30 p.m.) <br />January 4, 2005 <br />37 <br /> <br />
