Wodtke, Jr., airoan
Board of County Commissioners
Indian River Court House
Vero Beach, Florida 32960
Dear Bill:
Mve Mayor of Indian River Shores, has on a number of
occasions, discussed with me, the need of a generator for
his community.
Fortunately, sometime ago, Sheriff Sam T. Joyce, informed
me that a friend had presented him with two used 15 K.W.
generators. In turn, he had made these available for
county use, for Civil Defense purposes.
Mayor Nolan, has had one of his representatives review one
of the generators to ascertain whether it would fulfill
emergency needs for his municipality. Apparently, this
generator would be sufficient to supply the necessary power
in case of an electircal.failure in their area.
In order to establish a better disaster preparedness response,
your Civil Defense department recognizes the importance of
every municipality in this county, having a stand-by generator
to rely on in case of electrical failure of present sources.
I strmIgly urge that the County Board of Commissioners approve
the request by Mayor Nolan that this generator, be assigned to
Indian River Shores .
Yoi rso_7pect7y
S. Lee Nuzie, Director
THE ADMINISTRATOR FELT THAT THE TOWN OF INDIAN RIVER
SHORES
SHOULD HAVE THIS GENERATOR IF THEY NEED IT, BUT INFORMED THE BOARD
THAT
ALTHOUGH THE GENERATOR WILL RUN, IT DOES NEED REPAIR,AND A RADIATOR AND
A PUMP HAVE BEEN ORDERED. HE ESTIMATED THE COST AT APPROXIMATELY $300.00
AND RECOMMENDED THAT THE GENERATOR BE TURNED OVER TO THE TOWN AS
IS AND
THAT THEY SHOULD PAY FOR THE PARTS.
37
JAN 10 1979 1 38 PAGET90
