<br /> <br />Mitchell, <br /> on behalf of the Indian River County Area Chamber of Commerce and the <br />Jens Tripson Dr <br />Sebastian River Area Chamber of Commerce, and a letter read by for <br />David Cox <br /> regarding this issue (copy on file). They were soliciting the Board’s support of <br />a Resolution to the Legislature to restore full funding to the Wildlife National Refuge. <br /> <br />MOTION WAS MADE by Commissioner <br />O’Bryan, SECONDED by Chairman Wheeler, to <br />direct the County Attorney’s office to draft a <br />Resolution of support to Senator Bill Nelson, <br />Senator Mel Martinez, and Congressman David <br />Weldon, requesting full funding be reinstated to the <br />US Fish and Wildlife Services Southeast Refuges <br />Budgets, and approved to have a federal lobbyist <br />campaign for reinstatement of this funding. <br /> <br />Discussion ensued by the Commissioners regarding the need for the resolution to <br />include the wildlife system. Administrator Baird advised the Board that they are working <br />on an agreement with Marlow and Associates that would include a lobbyist. <br /> <br />MOTION WAS AMENDED by Commissioner <br />O’Bryan, SECONDED by Chairman Wheeler, to <br />include the complete National Wildlife Refuge <br />Program in the resolution. <br /> <br />The Chairman CALLED THE QUESTION, and the <br />Motion carried unanimously. The Board approved <br />Resolution 2006-193, requesting that the United <br />States Fish and Wildlife Service restore full funding <br />December 19, 2006 5 <br /> <br />
