-11 <br />E7 <br />ADMINISTRATOR JENNINGS DISCUSSED WITH THE BOARD A REQUEST FOR <br />MOBILE RADIOS FOR THE UTILITY DEPARTMENT AS PER HIS MEMO OF MARCH 1, <br />1979, AS FOLLOWS: <br />March 1, 1909 <br />Toa The Board of County Commissioners <br />From: County Administrator <br />Subject: Request to purchase two (2) General <br />Electric Mobile Radios for the Utility Department <br />The Utility Department has grown from managing <br />a small system in the Gifford area to the manangement <br />of three separate systems throughout the county. This <br />has put a hardship on the department in keeping track of <br />its men in the field and in the assignment of jobs. <br />Radio communication would help solve this problem <br />and allow the Utility Department to be more efficient in <br />its operation. Currently the Department has three vehicles, <br />however, only one has a mobile radio installed. <br />Therefore, approval to purchase two (2) General <br />Electric Mobile Radios MC -74 -CCU 32A with ASP #730 <br />Antenna's under the Florida State Bid Contract 735-56-79-1 <br />for $1646.00 is requested. <br />ADMINISTRATOR JENNINGS INFORMED THE BOARD THAT AT PRESENT THE <br />UTILITY DEPARTMENT IS NOT ON THE COUNTY RADIO CIRCUITS. <br />ASSISTANT ADMINISTRATOR NELSON EXPLAINED THAT THEY HAD BUDGETED <br />FOR ONE RADIO, BUT AT THAT TIME, IT WAS THOUGHT THE GIFFORD WATER SYSTEM <br />WOULD BE THE EXTENT OF OUR UTILITY DEPARTMENT. $INCE THEN WE HAVE <br />ACQUIRED THE PEBBLE BAY SEWER SYSTEM AND NOW MID -FLORIDA WITH THE CONSE- <br />QUENCE THAT WE HAVE THREE SEPARATE UTILITY AREAS WHERE WE HAVE TO PERFORM <br />MAINTENANCE WORK, ETC.
