PUBLIC WORKS - BEACH WATCH MEMBERSHIP - BEACH <br />AND SHORE PRESERVATION ADVISORY COMMITTEE - <br />FLORIDA SHORE AND BEACH PRESERVATION <br />ASSOCIATION (FSBPA) - BEACH PRESERVATION FUND <br />MOTION WAS MADE by Vice Chairman Neuberger, <br />SECONDED by Commissioner Davis, to approve staff's <br />recommendation. <br />Under discussion, Commissioner Wheeler questioned and opposed spending the <br />$5,000 on this because he did not know of any specific good this group has done for Indian River <br />County. <br />Vice Chairman Neuberger spoke in favor of this because he believed that FSBPA <br />has been effective in obtaining money for our beaches. <br />Coastal Resource Manager Jonathan Gorham recommended support of Beach <br />Watch; it has been a successful lobbying association. <br />Chairman Lowther and Commissioner Davis indicated their support. <br />The Chairman CALLED THE QUESTION and the motion <br />carried by a vote of 3-1 Commissioner Wheeler opposed <br />and Commissioner Bowden absent. (The Board approved <br />the recommendation of the Beach and Shore Preservation <br />Advisory Committee to join the Beach Watch lobbying <br />program with funding in the amount of $5,000 from the <br />Beach Preservation Fund, as recommended by staff and in <br />the memorandum of February 8, 2005.) <br />February 15, 2005 30 <br />
