THE REMAINING BOARD MEMBERS EXPRESSED THEIR APPROVAL OF SUCH <br />A WORTHWHILE PROJECT AND COMPLIMENTED THOSE INVOLVED, <br />CHAIRMAN WODTKE COMMENTED THAT ALTHOUGH THE BOARD IS VERY <br />RECEPTIVE TO THE CONCEPT PRESENTED, HE WOULD SUGGEST THE EXCHANGE CLUB <br />ALSO CONSIDER ASKING FOR COMMUNITY SUPPORT WHICH WOULD HELP KEEP THIS <br />OUT OF THE TAXPAYER `S POCKET. <br />COMMISSIONER LYONS AGREED THAT THE COMMUNITY MIGHT BACK THIS <br />PROJECT, BUT FELT IF THEY SHOULDNIT, THAT IT IS A LEGITIMATE EXPENDITURE <br />FOR COUNTY FUNDS. <br />COMMISSIONER Loy VOLUNTEERED TO WORK WITH THE EXCHANGE CLUB <br />IN TRYING TO LOCATE APPROPRIATE SPACE FOR THE PROPOSED YOUTH MANOR. <br />MARGARET BOWMAN, PRESIDENT OF THE PELICAN ISLAND AUDUBON <br />SOCIETY, INFORMED THE BOARD THAT THEY HAVE LONG RANGE PLANS FOR AN <br />ENVIRONMENTAL WORKING CENTER THAT WOULD BE A STAFFED MUSEUM FOR TRAINING <br />CHILDREN AND WOULD BE VERY MUCH INTERESTED IN HAVING LAND AT THE TRACKING <br />STATION PARK. <br />MRS..BOWMAN THEN DISCUSSED THE NECESSITY OF PROTECTING THE <br />DUNES AND DUNE VEGETATION AND STATED THAT THE SITUATION AT WABASSO REACH <br />PARK IS BECOMING CRITICAL, MAINLY DUE TO THE VEHICULAR TRAFFIC FROM THE <br />TOP OF THE BLUFF TO THE BEACH. SHE STATED THAT THE PRESENT VEHICULAR <br />RESTRICTIONS WE HAVE ARE NOT ADEQUATE. THE CITY OF VERO BEACH PROHIBITS <br />VEHICULAR TRAFFIC ON THE BEACH. THE COUNTY, HOWEVER, PERMITS VEHICLES <br />• ON THE BEACH BETWEEN 6.00 P.M. AND 6,00 A.M. ALSO THE STATE REQUIRES <br />DESIGNATED ACCESS POINTS FOR VEHICLES TO ENTER THE BEACH, AND THE COUNTY <br />HAS NONE, MRS. BOWMAN REQUESTED THAT THE BOARD APPOINT A COMMITTEE TO <br />RECOMMEND HOW THE COUNTY ORDINANCE CAN BE BEEFED UP AND ALSO TO CONSIDER <br />THE CONSTRUCTION OF BRIDGES AND WALKWAYS, AND TO LOOK FOR MONEY, <br />MR. WALL AND MR. KENNEDY, RESIDENTS OF SUMMERPLACE, COMPLAINED <br />OF ILLEGAL OVERNIGHT PARKING AT THE PARK, DOGS ON THE BEACH AND VENDORS <br />BY THE HIGHWAY. A LADY RESIDENT COMPLAINED OF ALL NIGHT POT PARTIES AND <br />DRAG RACING. IT WAS NOTED THE SIGNS ARE TORN DOWN AND NOT ENFORCED IN <br />ANY EVENT. <br />ADMINISTRATOR .JENNINGS INFORMED THOSE PRESENT THAT HE HAS <br />CONTACTED THE•DOT IN REGARD TO ESTABLISHING NO PARKING AREAS TO THE NORTH <br />24 <br />MAY 91979 Boa 40 PAu 229 <br />
