"s REQUEST FOR FINAL PLAT <br />APPROVAL FOR THE SPYGLASS AFFIDAVIT OF EXEMPTION PROJECT <br />ON MOTION by Commissioner O'Bryan, SECONDED <br />by Vice Chairman Flescher, the Board unanimously <br />granted final plat approval for the Spyglass Affidavit of <br />Exemption, as recommended in the memorandum of <br />January 26, 2009. <br />8.1. INDIAN RIVER COUNTY BID No. 2009011 ANNUAL BID FOR CATCH <br />BASINS AND STORM WATER INLETS <br />Vice Chairman Flescher asked why there had been only one bid submitted; <br />whether the County was going to stockpile the catch basins; and whether it was more efficient to <br />secure the catch basins on an as -needed basis. <br />County Administrator Joe Baird stated that vendors were reluctant to bid, due to <br />volatile concrete prices, and he thought that the County would obtain better prices by obtaining <br />the items on an as -needed basis. <br />ON MOTION by Vice Chairman Flescher, SECONDED <br />by Commissioner Solari, the Board unanimously approved <br />staff's recommendation to reject the bid submitted by <br />Oldcastle Precast, Inc. (Brooks Products), for the purchase <br />and delivery of Catch Basins and Storm Water Inlets. <br />After completing the review process, staff felt that the bid <br />prices submitted were too high due to fuel cost, and <br />12 <br />February 3, 2009 <br />
