properties. <br />(Clerk's Note: Attorney Collins rejoined the meeting at 3:16 p.m.) <br />Commissioner Flescher continued to debate the need for 24-hour security in that <br />area. He read results of a law enforcement response to crime in the Gifford Youth Activity Center <br />area and wondered if that warranted the County investing that amount of money when it was not <br />proven that such security presence might reduce crime. <br />Commissioner Davis felt there were opportunities for crime to exist there and <br />security presence does keep everyone in place. <br />Discussion ensued regarding purchasing a home for 24-hour police security and the <br />possibility of future needs by other communities, the type of building to put on the property, who <br />would maintain it, and whether it was budgeted item. <br />Commissioner Davis WITHDREW HIS MOTION to <br />approve staffs recommendation. MOTION DIED. <br />MOTION WAS MADE by Commissioner Flescher, <br />SECONDED by Commissioner Davis to disapprove the <br />endeavor of going forward with a building for the specified <br />area under this Bid. <br />The Chairman clarified the Motion and there was no further discussion. <br />The Chairman CALLED THE QUESTION and the Motion <br />carried unanimously to reject staffs recommendation and <br />pursue other avenues. <br />February 6, 2007 43 <br />
